vaginismus nightmare
...a few days ago I woke up from dream that almost sent me into an anxiety attack. I literally felt physically ill when I woke up. it should be against some sort of law or code that prohibits a woman with vaginismus from dreaming about her man having intercourse with another woman. clearly my mind likes to torture me. I was actually doing pretty well prior to that dream, but I feel like that set me back a few years. I had fight back tears. eventually, I talked to him about it, and he reassured me that I don't have anything to worry about. I'd be lying if I said it completely put my heart at ease, but I'm trying to convince myself that I'm worthy of someone, two people actually, being patient for me. ...I left something out in my previous posts. I'm polyamorous. I have a female partner and a male partner. I'm the vortex of a Vee relationship with the two of them. I probably won't revisit this, as I don't want this blog to be about my relationships. I have a separate blog for that. back to my vagina. today something sweet happened. I was able to successfully insert my middle finger into my vagina. I didn't leave it in for long, and I only got half of my finger in, but I was inside of myself!! that was my first time feeling myself. I felt warm and soft. for once, I didn't feel broken.
Pro-Tip
Pro-tip: Don’t let the worlds simpleminded ideas of sex and sexuality bring you down. Don’t let the societal fear of being different get to you. You are more beautiful than society could ever imagine.

thanks so much for the support. it's good to know I'm not talking to myself. I'll definitely make a list of my concerns so I don't forget anything for my appointment. I think I'm just gonna focus on self care in the meantime :/
More progress!

congrats! I just started following your blog, but I know how major this is. I can't wait to get to this point.
step one
I believe this is step one. I made an appointment with a gynecologist. two problems: 1) the appointment isn't until May 5 2) I'll be seeing a new doctor this feels like more of a setback instead of a step in the right direction. what should I be doing until May? not to mention seeing a new doctor isn't exactly ideal. the NP I saw this past summer provided the best experience I've ever had for that type of exam. she was the first person to successfully perform a pap smear on me. I was able to listen to music while she used the smallest speculum on me. everyone before here was extremely insensitive and rough. those experiences have me terrified to try a new doctor because you really never know what you're gonna get. what am I supposed to tell the doctor once I get there? I could barely tell the nurse over the phone that I'm coming in due to being unable to be penetrated. it's so embarrassing. what if the doctor isn't familiar with vaginismus? I just want to get the help I know I need.
I felt so alone for such a long time. I never realized how many women were affected by vaginismus. I’m so glad I found this wonderful umbrella of love and support on tumblr. I absolutely love my tumblr family. We’re all gonna kick this thing to the curb, together. ♡♡♡
i'm currently feeling the same way. this community is amazing. i've felt alone in this for so long!
Vaginismus sufferers please read!
I’m really wanting to document my struggles with vaginismus on Tumblr, but I’m scared I’ll be talking to myself - as was the case on a supposedly welcoming forum :c
So yeah ugh I’m at the point where I’m emotionally stable enough to consider the dilators again and just
I need support because I feel like I’m going in circles
Please respond if you have time so I know it’s worth talking to Tumblr about it again x
i'm just starting out, and I sorta have a similar fear. we can do this together. you're not alone :)
I just want a penis in my vagina. Is that too much to ask?

Hello! Can a sista get a break?
this is the beginning
i'm a lesbian identified woman who fell in love with a man that I can't have sex with.
I suffer from what I believe is primary vaginismus. up until recently this was something I was able to completely avoid because i've only been in relationships with women, until last year. now i'm having to face what I feel like i've been running from since my early teenage years.
my vagina has always given me problems, and I don't think i've ever had a healthy relationship with it or my body. at age 25, i'm just now realizing that. i remember spending hours in my bathroom trying to insert the smallest tampon I could find into my vagina only to end up on my grandmother's bed crying and proclaiming that "I don't have a vagina hole." that night came to an end, and the only achievement I had was the ability to run through an entire box of tampons in record speed. I was the problem.
of course I internalized this. I felt like my body was failing me since I wasn't able to do what all of my fellow dancer and cheerleader friends were doing (wearing tampons). it's not easy to be a dancer and cheerleading while having to rely on pads without an alternative, especially when your flow is heavy, and you're prone to accidents.
at that stage in my life, I internalized a lot of things, especially that PIV sex would be painful. I never even got the urge to explore PIV sex because my mother had convinced me that it would be a painful experience and that it was reserved for married couple. I was later, age 16-17, sexually assaulted and abused (more than once) by a man who was close to me. of course that didn't help.
my attraction to women predated the assault, and in many ways, inspired it. while i'm no longer interested in making any attempts to rationalize my abuser's behavior, I do believe he believed violating my body would *correct* my sexual orientation. instead, his abuse impacted my trust in men and nearly ridded me of any attraction I had towards them.
until recently, I didn't have to face any of this. I was able to bury all of these issues and live a penetration-free life with my female partner. while I continued to have an issue with sex and a lower sex drive, we were able to have a fairly healthy, pleasurable sex life while avoiding penetration.
falling in love with a man, however, has inspired me to face my ongoing battle with vaginismus. he encouraged me to look into all of the online communities for those that are battling vaginismus because there are others that are going through what i'm going through, and i'm not alone. so, here I am. it is my hope to bare it all as I take on this journey, one step at a time.
