My blog is very much that- basically whatever I'm in to at any given moment mostly (right now) Danmei (MXTX, disabled tyrant,- more coming!) content.

BUT; I do still read a metric shit-ton in a week. Most of it is fanfiction, but hey, I thought maybe it's time I share my reads?
This is what I read this week:
1. Peerless [Wushuang]: Chapter 21-25
Summary:
On a snowy night, an envoy sent by the Kingdom of Khotan is ambushed on the road, massacred with his escort. Not a living soul remains, and the attackers vanish—along with a precious jade intended as tribute to the Emperor of Sui. A member of the emperor’s secret intelligence agency, the Jiejian Bureau, pursues the case: the formidable deputy chief, Feng Xiao. His investigation takes him to Liugong City, where top martial artists from across the land gather for a mysterious auction.
But a rival intelligence agency, the Zuoyue Bureau, has business in the same city—and they have sent Cui Buqu, an ailing but brilliant man who hides more secrets than even Feng Xiao. Equally proud, the two immediately clash in a battle of wits, but neither can crack the case alone. 2. The Untamed Belluine Cultivator by BlackFoy [79,647]
Summary:
Belluine adjective
1. Beastly; pertaining to or characteristic of beasts; brutal: as, “animal and belluine life,”
2. Of, pertaining to, or characteristic of beasts; bestial; brutal; animal.
Shen Jiu is trapped, injured, and basically feral after ending up in the Endless Abyss. Heavenly Demon Shen Yuan is used to dealing with frightened, injured beasts. How different could a savage cultivator be?
This was so different! I loved the world building and shen yuan's characterization
It was such a neat take!
I also loved the queer platonic vibes that organically grew here in several ways
3. No Mercy Here. by Ravishnt [220,832]
Summary:
“Maybe showing you what happened after your death would change your mind.”
He assented with a nod. She placed a palm on his head and barely a minute later he shuddered violently, jerking away from her, cursing and shrinking into himself.
“So, Wei Wuxian, how about it? Will you let your name be cursed for all eternity or will you take my offer to rewrite your fate?.”
Or
Wei Wuxian is shown what happens after his death and he’s just done.
What a good way to spend most of my week

4. Lamenting Ghosts by danny16doc [26,676]
Summary: "Eerie voices were heard coming from the mountain, drifting slowly down, toward the village as though carried on an unseen current of wind, singing a song steeped in such profound sadness that it seemed less a melody and more a lamentation, one that drew tears to the eyes of most who listened and stirred sorrow deep within their hearts without truly understanding why. The singing continued relentlessly, growing even more mournful as night fell, its haunting strains unsettling those who resided in the shadow of the Burial Mounds."
The cultivation world now faces a new crisis and at its centre stands Wei Wuxian.
This was a sweet immortal[ish] wei wuxian fic
I love when people find the consequences of their actions and when truth comes out!!!!

5. Courteous Courtship by Hugeamountofcatsatonce [20,535]
Summary:
Objectively it was the Great Master Airplane Shooting Towards The Sky’s fault.
If he didn’t scatter wife plots so densely in his moronic novel, Shen Qingqiu wouldn’t have to thread so carefully through this world. If there were just a few, but meaningful ones, they wouldn’t just mix up in his mind, he would be able to spot them from the beginning, not just realizing after he got himself into one.
Dear Airplane, not every flower needs to emit aphrodisiac pollen. Not every array needs to be a lust inducing one. Not every slime a person gets coated with needs to make them feel a sudden urge to confess his feelings.
Most importantly - wife plots should wait for the protagonist and his beloved, not trigger on a random passerby!
This was so cute!!!
The universe aligns perfectly for a moment in fics where Shen Yuan realizes that he is in fact, more than a little bit gay.

6. Accidentally Interviewed by the CEO by SNSLOVE [43,401]
Summary:
Lan Corporation’s Human Resources Department would like to make one thing perfectly clear:
None of this was their fault.
The scheduling software worked correctly.
The interview invitation was sent on time.
The candidate arrived exactly when he was supposed to.
Unfortunately, due to one administrative error, Wei Wuxian interviewed with the Chief Executive Officer instead of Human Resources.
The company was never quite the same afterward.
This is the nerdiest thing ive read in a hot minute!
I loved the storytelling structure, the clipped dialogue, and Lan Wangjis systems
I'm pretty sure they broke several regulations though, but LWJ writes the rules so.... tbd
7. Tomorrows and Endless Yesterdays by WinterSky101 [13,688]
Summary:
When Tianlang-jun brings the time-travel amulet from Wife Plot #257 to Shen Qingqiu’s doorstep and asks him to help save Su Xiyan, it’s not like Shen Qingqiu could say no.
Especially not if it lets him prove Airplane wrong.
A sweet time travel fix it- if you can call it that. Well, its technically time travel!
I love a pouty binghe and an infatuated tianlangjun!

Friday I was at work for 12 hours- yay overtime, but it was exhausting.
Yesterday was mostly chill, but I there was a literal dumpster fire next to my building, so that was the community drama of the day.

I did end up looking it up and Goguryeo was territory in North Korea, part of Russia, and North-Western China. Still don't know the exact language that was spoken, but likely closer to Korean? p.215
Cui Buqu coming in with the psychic damage! This man has such biting speech, I love it. p.216
Oh, this ambush is insane. Not only coming in for Feng Xiao, but three parties also working to take out Cui Buqu as collateral! p.218
Cui Buqu was fully ready to move on with his life as he expected Feng Xiao to be dead. That, "Pull me up." must have sent him spiraling. p.221

Knowing that Zhangsun Bodhi knows all this information about Fo'er and Apa Khagan's men, is so funny in retrospect. It means Cui Buqu also knows this and is strategically feeding Feng Xiao info- even more than I initially thought. p.207
LMAO: "I'm just happy for Deputy Chief Feng." It's defo not because he's pleased that he made him uncomfy with the puke. p.209
I hate this for the prickly pear! "Do what you need to do. I've always been good at enduring pain." p.211 :(

3. Symmetry in Bloom by fancywaffles [49,891]
Summary:
Shen Yuan transmigrates as Zhan Yuan, a child raised in the Warm Red Pavilion. A chance meeting with two future peak lords (brought about by a crabby young Shen Yuan yelling at them) leads to the possibility of a bright future. Except fate even without an active system is not generally that kind, especially in the world of Proud Immortal Demon Way.
(or, courtesan shen yuan au that turned into a treatise on dual cultivation)
Oo this was such a neat concept
I love that shen yuan revamped the sex worker business model
I also adore how it left off on an open ending!

4. Make My Messes Matter, Make This Chaos Count by Arctic_White_Wolf [28,413]
Summary: Sudden awareness crashed over him and Liu Qingge froze in his tracks. Carefully, without looking, he lowered his extended leg, shudders running through his body. Why was he on all fours? What kind of immersive dream had left him believing that he was feline even upon waking? It was ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. He would stand up, return back to where he had camped down, collect his bag and finish flying back to Cang Qiong. In just a moment. He just needed a moment to reorient himself. Just a moment.
A bird exploded out of the tall grasses nearby. Startled, Liu Qingge leapt into the air, a yowl tearing its way from his throat. He landed on all fours, claws extended and fangs bared, the fur down his spine standing on end. He could see his front paws now, the grey striped fur of his forelegs. Denial was impossible in the face of such evidence. Somehow, as he slept, Liu Qingge had been transformed into a cat.
I adore cat liu qingge fics!
This was so sweet with the tiniest amount of emotional unrest
Absolutely adorable, they're so sweet!
5. The Moment Before Everything by ManleyAiden [188,651]
Summary:
Wei Ying was too late.

This was such a soft and wholesome wangxian fic
The time travel, the supportive families, the goodness of the world was lovely to see
What a positive end to my week ♡
6. The past before your eyes by Bastet_Fanwork [33,202]
Summary:
Lan Zhan couldn't speak. Was he still breathing? He wasn't sure. He didn't know if he could see or hear because his entire being had become his beating heart in front of the boy who had just entered the room.
Wei Ying was... young. By the gods, he looked so young. His hair was styled in the ponytail he had stopped wearing along with his sword, as if loose hair could help him hide from the hostility and fear of others. His eyes were bright and happy. His lips were curved into the smile that had captured Lan Zhan's heart from the very beginning.
The Wei Ying in front of him was just a boy, not yet tainted by war's harshness and people's cruelty.

Lan Wangji dies from the thirty-third lash, then wakes up as his fifteen-year-old self in the Cloud Recesses.
I love a time travel fic fix-it and this was that but not
I adore that in this fic things didn't work out perfectly, the world wasn't saved
But: despite it all, two teens found themselves and made a home

I love how this auction house really doesn't authenticate anything: "So I went to interrogate Wen Liang again, and he said the item was delivered...by an old servant in grey...the man had claimed it was a family heirloom." they just went on this random man's word. p.153
