fang runin at the start of the poppy war vs the burning god
My favorite fan art of yin nezha - the sorrow in his eyes, the shine on his porcelain skin, the glow in his scar, his resolute expression despite carrying all of Nikan’s burdens on his shoulders. This is exactly how I imagine him in the burning god.
Art by gracerstudios
It kills me to know that ramsa was just a kid searching for a family and in cike, he found a home. He finally belonged. He never called on a god for his own. He didnt deserve what he got.
My roman empire is when nezha was willing to be humiliated by the hesparians for not being able to bring rin to them. He could do it, if he wanted, but he never wanted to. He never WANTED to. He was willing to be humiliated, degraded, over and over again, by the foreigners on HIS land, by Vaisra, as long as he could keep her alive, he didn’t care about respect oh my nezha
“Rin.” Nezha looked so scared. It was a funny thing, how fear made him look so much younger, how it rounded his eyes and erased the cruel grimace of his sneer so that he looked, just for an instant, like the boy she’d first met at Sinegard. “Rin, don’t—”
The moment nezha realized he would be left alone to carry the burden he never wanted, duty forced onto him since birth with a fragile support system. He would have to revive his nation, no one by his side, not with the only person he’s ever loved, not with his best friend. He lives, but at what cost?

I remember nezha losing a nation (HIS nation) because he couldn’t bring himself to kill rin and suddenly im not hungry anymore
Oh Yin Nezha they could never make me hate you
"it's such a shame our friendship had to end... purple rain, purple rain" but make it Rinezha's fight against the Mugenese in Sinegard then it transitions to them drowning and burning each other in Tikany 😁
I like characters that carry a deep sense of eternal loneliness
Oh if only I could be lonely together with them
Do not think about the fact that Nezha had to go back to his home with remnants of his friends laying everywhere. Rin and Kitay’s handwriting on the table, Venka’s clothes, etc. I just know being in a place that they tired to settle into broke him.
rip yin nezha you would’ve loved hozier’s cover of do i wanna know
There are so many essays that could be written about Yin Nezha and his relationship with his own agency and self worth because it is so fascinating to me that a character’s actions can be as unforgivable as his are while still making so much sense for the way he’s written.
Basically, we’re introduced to him and he’s a massive arrogant prick, with an ego the size of the sun. Then we get into the Dragon Republic and it seems like a lot of that is a front to cover up his intense self loathing. So far, fairly straightforward.
What’s really interesting is that the way he talks about the dragon it seems like he simultaneously views himself as a victim and martyr that people can’t expect anymore than simple endurance of his fate from and an abomination that shouldn’t exist, a tainted disgusting monster whose responsible not only for their own plight but also for the death of their brother.
While these viewpoints seem to contradict each other what they both translate as is a complete lack of desire to try and exert any control over his own life. His role in life is as a sacrificial lamb and it always has been, his existence is one of pain in the name of his duty and how dare anyone criticise him when he’s already given up so much. He’s fundamentally evil and tainted, undeserving of his own body and free will, he cannot trust himself to make decisions and must surrender himself to his father’s better judgment in penance.
And this is not just self destructive, though he probably views it as such in the name of a greater cause, it is just plain destructive in general to those he cares about and the world at large. Nezha is desperate to martyr himself, if he can’t die he’ll happily sacrifice his and his country’s autonomy because his suffering is the only barometer he has for doing the right thing. If it hurts him this much how can it be selfish? If he’s suffering in the name of his people he must be doing the right thing.
If it’s agonising and it makes him despise himself and his life but it’s in the name of what he’s been told is his duty you can bet Nezha will be jumping on it as soon as possible. Not in spite of the price but also because of it. He is so painfully self sacrificial and he doesn’t understand that that’s not necessarily a virtue when he’s making everyone else suffer with him.
"legendary lovers" but its rin and nezha
sinegard four doodles! based off of tdr 🤍
