Training an ML model for a class and I'm struck again and again how ridiculously all of this is marketed. The very LANGUAGE used to describe some of these methods is just very misleading and deeply 'corporate bullshit'
The initial thing I was thinking of is the actual meaning of 'deep learning' (TLDR you train the model more than once) but I think these articles are great examples. Overall all ML is a kind of function fitting. This is the language I'd expect to see (from geeksforgeeks for scipy's curvefit function):

also the person or data set used to label data is called a fucking 'oracle' oh my god. 'The algorithm could select the data it wants to learn from' what that actually means is: 'the operator selects the section of data which the model least accurately approximates and retrains* that section of the model'
