“When you say zero sleep,” George says, his voice heavy with scepticism, “you’re talking like. What, six hours? Five?” “It’s not like it’s all the time,” Alex says, to avoid admitting that he had pretty much meant no sleep. “It’s just been like, recently-ish. I’ll get over it eventually.” He tries not to squirm under the intensity of George’s gaze, but he feels his hand twitch against his thigh traitorously. He can’t help it — he can still feel the heavy weight of the ring box sitting in his pocket, even though he had returned it to the jeweller months ago.
