I found a copy of my mom's favorite book from childhood! It's called Striped Ice Cream and I'm gonna wrap it in plastic and then some foil and bury it in a gallon of Neapolitan.

And I'll say "look, mom, I got you that striped ice cream you're always talking about!" and convince her to serve it up for dessert.

I'm gonna wrap a layer of waxed paper around it too, so that the marker doesn't rub off and it's easier to fish out. I'm not sure how I'm gonna excavate the ice cream, exactly. I made a template. I'm hoping to like... cut around it and then peel back a layer about an inch deep that I can just put back on top.

Mom thinks I'm at the park with the dog but I'm out in the garage burying a children's book from the 60s in a gallon of ice cream. This is one of the weirdest ways I've ever wrapped a present.

Tomorrow I turn 30, where have my 20's gone? They flew by. I guess I did have a child young so spent my youth taking care of kids rather than "living my best life!" The one thing I do look forward to is the early retirement from parenthood, no spending my 50s worrying about my kids because they'll be grown ups and doing their own thang!

When I was younger I watched this movie '13 going on 30' and I used to sit and think WHY THE FUCKKK would you want to be that old?! Why would anyone in their right mind want to miss out their whole youth to be a 30yo and now I am one. Fuck.

Getting older is just scary, especially when it means approaching and passing through different decades, you want to make sure you are living life to the fullest and I think I find it difficult because where I struggle so bad with anxiety, especially this past year, I don't feel like I can do half the things I want to do. Like, not anytime soon. I also just want to flip off my anxiety and just do whatever the fuck I want deep down, like, 3 hour road trip? Sure! Let's do it. Go shopping and not give a fuck where you are or how many people are about? YASS do it. Go to the beach because it's your favourite thing to fucking do? Just do it.

Getting older just makes you realize how short time you have to hold yourself back from these things, you don't have forever so just do it now.

But hey, I won't because anxiety is pretty rough and you can't just throw yourself in the deep end, small steps often.

I guess I should remind myself that turning 30 isn't all that bad either. Just small steps forward.
