Debunking some fandom conspiracy theories
First of all, this is obviously about the TheySilencedYou thing but I want to be clear that I’m not saying you shouldn’t demand more diversity and representation on television. You absolutely should. I’m specifically talking about the destiel Qfanons who are swearing there was a secret ending shot for 15.18 and that the endgame for the finale was supposed to be a big Dean and Castiel lovefest but it got shot down by the network. To do that, we need to talk about the ringleader of Qfanon: Goob. She used to be ghostofbobby on twitter hence Goob bc that fits her better than her chosen fandom name of Minerva. I’m not calling her the goddess of wisdom. She should have named herself after the goddess of hubris. Or the patron saint of scam artists. That would have been more appropriate. Anyway, her blog on here is occamshipper if you want to view the crazy firsthand.
A little backstory: I first encountered her when she showed up in my mentions on twitter 2 years ago swearing that she was a Jared fan and she was just concerned for him because his fans were awful and created so much wank that he would never work again after spn. Ah, the irony especially considering that 1)Jared has a job which they very much hope to destroy now because they honestly believe they can “bring down” the CW over their ship not going canon, and 2) the wank they’ve now created for MIsha is very likely to tank his future career prospects and relegate him to pity jobs.
I just thought Goob was a rabid crazy but in the last year, some of my friends started watching her. They said she wasn’t crazy at all. She’s a grifter. Every time there’s fandom drama, she inserts herself into it, plays victim, and then uses it for clout and gofundmes. They said that considering that and the way she was trying to blame the network in advance, she was 100% going to start a johnlock style conspiracy theory if she didn’t get what she wanted from the finale. And look. That’s exactly what she did.
Her conspiracy theory that there were secret endings for 15.18 and the finale hinges on a few things. First off, the bad dubbing from a Spanish broadcast (which if we’re allowed to use bad dubbing and captions to prove canon…well) and the idea that they filmed it and called it AppA for appendix A. This has already been debunked by people that used to be in Goob’s discord server.

Here it is. They had sources on the set who told them in advance that Dean wasn’t going to reciprocate. They had the script of 15.18. They creepily found out that Misha was actually having surgery during the filming of the finale so he wouldn’t be there. They knew that AppA was actually a scene of the AU hunters in the silo coming back to life. Filmed during 15.18 but used later.
In other words, there is no there there. It’s literally nothing and she knows it but she keeps banging on about it to continue this scam.
Her other supposed source of super secret canon destiel finale info was an anonymous “CW employee” who she said contacted her through DMs. I thought this was just flat-out bullshit until they also DMed me. Let me lay this out for you.
Let’s say you’re a supernatural fan. You’re in the fandom but just to scroll through tumblr occasionally. You start seeing some truly insane finale spec. It’s in the tags, it pops up in the “in your orbit” section, and it is BATSHIT. For example, that the finale barn scene was about how Dean would pull Cass out of the empty. And it starts really, really bugging you. Why? Well, because you know the ending. You have a relative who worked on production in season 15 and he gave you all the call sheets and notes and whatnot as a souviner. This blogger is so annoying and just plain wrong that you start sending her anons to troll her. But she gets weird and defensive and arrogant immediately. So you create a whole persona and a burner blog and dive right in. You give her ample opportunities to figure it out. The job you tell her you have- a babysitter to the PA’s PA- doesn’t exist in any world. You’re pretending to be a CW employee but you answer a bunch of questions as though you actually work for Warner Brothers. And the most obvious clue of all: NO NETWORK “SUIT” IS CONTACTING PEOPLE THROUGH A BURNER TUMBLR’S DMs. There are other clues too, Big obvious ones that Goob’s arrogance wouldn’t let her see. And then you just troll the shit out of her. You tell the truth mostly but you leave enough out and use words that you know will get her all fired up. As an example “transcendent” which was literally true but not how she thought.
But really why don’t I just let you read it all for yourself? There are over 100 screen shots and I can’t include them all. So my friend uploaded them into this:

Feel free to see for yourself. Pay close attention to what’s not there: any verification that there was a secret ending for the finale or ep 18. In fact, since this source has the call sheets and answers from her relative who was actually there during filming, she tells Goob specifically that there was never an alternate to either except for minor finale changes due to covid.
And please enjoy Goob trying to bribe this person for answers which is funny bc she was all but shouting the truth, no bribery needed, and Goob didn’t want to hear it.
Of course after the finale was over, the game was up but that didn’t stop Goob from continuing to misrepresent things this person said.
This made Goob furious and she threatened this person’s imaginary job, threatened to report them to GLAAD (lol) and more. Not only doesn’t this person work for the CW, her relative doesn’t work for them anymore either. So good luck on that quest, Don Quixote. They did try to tell Goob that they’d trolled her:
But they couldn’t reveal it to the fandom at large through their actual blog and have psycho cult weirdos attacking them. So they came to me. And I can confirm 100% that they are not employed by the WB or the CW.
So to the conspiracy theorists out there: I get that you’re upset that it didn’t end the way you wanted. If you want to be upset about the “bury your gays” trope, you have every right. But that’s on Berens who wrote it and Misha who said he knew it was terrible but did it anyway. If you feel like you didn’t get what you were promised, maybe look at who was doing the promising. The meta writers who swore the show was everything but what it is. A few weeks ago they were lying to you about how the show was going to end even though a lot of them knew FOR A FACT that Misha wasn’t in it. Now they’re lying to you about a conspiracy theory. It’s time to start dealing with reality and break the cycle.
