i’m writing this while parked outside my house. when i leave my car, my keys and phone are going to be taken away from me. i’m an 18 year old lesbian being held prisoner in my own home (i’m only allowed to leave home for work and therapy, and my paychecks are being taken from me as well) and i don’t know if or when i’m leaving - my parents are deliberating pulling me out of college. i’m terrified for my life right now. my mother is emotionally and physically abusive and has threatened to abandon or hurt our three dogs if i act out of line. i’m so scared to leave my car. if you want to help me my paypal is here thank you so much

I was sitting at my desk just a few minutes ago, drawing, and a really loud crack of thunder went off–no power surges or anything, just thunder–and my roomba fled from its dock and started spinning in circles

I had a teenage girl come into my tea shop with her mother the other night. She purposely grabbed a teamaker in the most crunched-up looking box on the shelf (got banged around in shipment) and carried it protectively over to the counter. “If something’s in a damaged box I have to get it because I’m afraid no one else will love it,” she laughed nervously.

Not only will humans pack bond with anything, the empathy level of adolescent girls in particular likely has puppy-saving, world hunger-solving, war-ending powers.

Later that night my boyfriend & I were driving home from rehearsal at like 11:30pm & passed the grocery store & I stared crying & he said “is it that lime? Oh, boy... from your earlier posts I can tell this is just another group of blind Adventure fanboys.  Why are you people so desperate to get another one of those awful games?  No matter how you slice it, they’re nothing more than horribly-designed, horribly voice-acted, tryhard edgy and cringy as hell games.  Need I remind you what happened the last time they tried that formula (*cough*06*cough*)?  Take the rose-tinted nostalgia goggles off and get over it.

First of all, you shouldn’t judge the opinions of our entire team based on the statements of a few select members.  Secondly, we’re not “blind fanboys” as you so eloquently put it; those of us who like the Adventure games have valid reasons for doing so.  If you don’t like them, that’s perfectly fine, different strokes for different folks.  Openly insulting those who do happen to like them is NOT okay.  If you want me to go into more detail about why I like them, and this is nothing more than my personal opinion, they’re a true transition of the Classic Genesis games to 3D.  You’re often encouraged, even rewarded, to go off the beaten path and find your own ways to play.  They aren’t perfect, of course, but what game is?  Am I not allowed to like them more than recent games because they aren’t the objectively best-designed games ever?  Lastly, bringing up 06 is nothing more than loaded language.  Saying that another Adventure game would never work because of 06 is what someone says when they don’t have an actual point.  It wasn’t the concept that was bad, it was the execution.  Of course we don’t want another 06, all I personally want is a game that takes the best aspects of the Adventure formula and improves on them.  If that doesn’t happen, oh well, not the end of the world.  I have better things to do with my time than insult other people online because my opinions are different from theirs.

this is exactly the kind of shit im talking about when i say i have no patience for people who look at robots and immediately start thinking about terminator shit. why is this terrifying? because it looks like a snake? so the fuck what? the reason robots are made to look like existing organisms is because those organisms have a several million year head start on robotics engineers on solving problems like how to move in water while expending minimal energy or how to walk over uneven terrain while carrying a heavy load.

it’s also really telling that people are much more scared of these organic robots that fall into the uncanny valley than they are of drones, which are robots that currently exist and have been killing people for several years. if a “robot apocalypse” does end up happening, it wont be due to organic-looking robots suddenly achieving sentience and deciding to wipe out all life on earth, it’ll be because some rich asshole or a war-hungry country sees new technology with the potential to kill people and harnesses it for that purpose, which has already happened several times over the course of human history.

tl;dr: stop opposing technological advancements with massive potential for good because you watched Terminator once, also this snake is cute and a friend

Bugs Bunny isn’t your conventional trickster god - he doesn’t steal or lie; rather he inflicts on us a societal hubris. He traps us in the rules, conventions and expectations we’ve made. Forcing us to go through the niceties of the barbershop or DMV at the times most inconvenient to us. If we didn’t have these rules - if it was twelve thousand years ago and all we had was a snare and a knife, Bugs would be nothing more than a mortal rabbit. But now we have built so much and he has become a god.

A lot of guys think “toxic masculinity” is a demonisation of all things masculine, but there’s a reason why it’s called “toxic masculinity” and not just “masculinity”. In Denmark we have two shows that illustrate the difference clearly.

The first pictures are from a show called “Real Men”. It’s basically about men who are so controlled by toxic masculinity it’s killing them. They refuse to eat greens because ew, real men only eat meat. They drink too much alcohol and drive everywhere because god forbid they do any kind of exercise because that’s gay/womanly. They’re so afraid of looking feminine it’s slowly destroying their lives. The show then tries to teach them a healthier way of life so they can be there for their families, especially their children.

The second set of pictures are from a show called “Shoot and Eat”. It’s a hunting and cooking show in one. The older hunter has to shoot an animal with the help of the younger cook who will then prepare the animal with the help of the hunter. In between they do things like build stuff, try new types of beer, have fun with gadgets, goof around and chill in nature. It’s a celebration of the masculine without the toxic part. They don’t ridicule women and the feminine while they have fun with their man stuff. It’s one of the longest running programs here because it’s popular with women too. You see, women don’t mind men being masculine, they just don’t like toxic macho boys who constantly put women down to feel more important.

Occasionally the young cook will worry a bit about looking feminine but the hunter is having non of that. At one point they had to braid rope to build a bigger thing and the cook asked “Isn’t this a bit girly?” and the hunter just responded “I love braiding. It’s so relaxing” There, drink your beer and shut up, boy.

So masculinity? Yeeeeeessssssss. Toxic masculinity? It’s literally ruining lives.

My dad told me recently that the most important public health workers are garbage collectors and janitors. So much of our health relies on a clean environment. These people do some of the most important work in society. If we learned in dirty public environments full of garbage, we’d all be sick. I cannot thank these people enough for the valuable work that they do.
