Astrologial Crash Course: Asteroids
Asteroids–like planets and houses–give more depth to our charts and personalities. By no means are asteroids as significant as planets, but they do play a role in determining who we are. There are thousands of asteroids that we can factor into our charts, but the biggest ones are Chiron, Ceres, Pallas, Juno, and Vesta.
Finding your asteroids is not as hard as some people may think. There’s just a few more steps involved when reading your chart.
STEP ONE: Go here and get your birth chart.
STEP TWO: Scroll down to where your asteroids are listed. Here are mine for an example:
We’re going to ignore Fortune and the South node. Just pay attention to the first five!
STEP THREE: Take note of which sign your asteroids are. Scroll up to the chart of your signs above and look only at the houses. Whichever house your asteroid’s sign is in is which house your asteroid is in. Again, here’s mine for an example:
My Chiron is in Libra. Libra is in my 5th house. Chiron is in my 5th house.
My Ceres is in Sagittarius and Sagittarius is not in my chart! This means that when I go to see what the house traits are for Ceres, they won’t apply to me, but the sign traits will. I’ll explain this more in depth further down.
My Pallas is in Scorpio. Scorpio is in my 6th house. Pallas is in my 6th house.
My Juno is in Aquarius. Aquarius is in my 9th house. Juno is in my 9th house.
My Vesta is in Scorpio. Scorpio is in my 6th house. Vesta is in my 6th house.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE: If you don’t have the sign of your asteroid in any of your houses, that asteroid’s house traits won’t apply to you. That doesn’t mean you don’t have that asteroid, it doesn’t mean you’re missing something important, it just means that only the sign traits are applicable to your asteroid.
