“Kaleidoscope”, 50x70cm, acrylic paint, January 2024
My second ever attempt with acrylic paint on the canvas. Took very long time and going from mixed media to repainting fully with acrylics, top to bottom. This portrait had seen more than 10 variations which were fully scrapped and reimagined. I knew I could push it more, I knew I could create better. At 2 year mark I thought I fully ruined the painting and won’t be able to recover it. Had to take a several months breaks because I haven’t saw a way to fix how I messed up the face, especially after catering to this work for so long. But tremendous patience, breaks, stubbornness that I’ll see this art through and 3 years of the learning process while making this - and I got on the other side of that turmoil. Turmoil of being multi marginalized self taught artist. Ended up with one of my favorite pieces within my career. Love it to this day
