(MIGHTY NEIN SPOILERS FOR YASHA'S BACKSTORY BELOW; YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!)

(literally going to yap about a flower rn ur welcome)

searched high and low for these fuckass flowers but I think they look a LOT like a gentian. these blue flowers are the closest I could find to the ones in the field zuala is in

what's interesting is the meaning tho!! these flowers symbolise a lot of things that definitely define the feelings zuala gave yasha; we know zuala understood the language of flowers, and the 'gentian language' represents justice and victory, representing justice that zuala wishes to achieve against the skyspear and her plan for those who are marked (a justice she never achieves). the victory represents the achievement of being able to live a life with yasha (a victory she never achieves)

a second more specific meaning it has is 'to feel compassion for your sorrow'. this could be a sign to help yasha recognise that she needs to accept her pain, the pain of losing zuala or the pain of knowing she no longer needs to grieve zuala, as obann has made her forget these feelings

a third meaning i found is that it represents passion, allure, loveliness and sweetness. this is self-explanatory; a flower representing romance, covering a field around yasha's love, who is holding one close to her heart.

another thing? it's extremely bitter. it remains bitter even if diluted numerous times - does this show that these feelings between zuala and yasha never really go away, no matter how hard she tries? even if she buries it, they still linger beneath the soil

these flowers also hate being out of their natural habitat. they will literally HIBERNATE BENEATH THE EARTH if they're disturbed lol. but this could show how yasha feels out of place anywhere without zuala. zuala is her anchor, she's the one keeping her in place and holding her up so she doesn't fall. without that, she's hiding beneath the earth, and doesn't want to be seen (not physically, but rather doesn't want anyone to get close to her to the point where they understand her)

I like the flower symbolism. ALSO, my first thought is that it's the flower zuala gives to yasha in the origins comics, but as far as I searched for i could not find a 'blue star of promise'. I guess we'll never know 🙃

my headcanon is that molly in animated-verse has weird memories about flowers and clovers and thunder but cant place them. he knows he should have someone beside him, but doesnt know who. yasha is just yet another memory from another life...

the way essek gets so excited about his work hurts to watch because he's not sharing it with an audience that truly cares. just look how happy he is before astrid shuts him down.

we've seen in prior episodes how thorough likes to be with his research, however working with trent has forced him to take a more reckless approach. here, while in the flow, he finds the answers he needed from the beacon alone. he never needed trent, and i wonder how this realization will shape him now that he's lost the cure to his mother's condition to a madman's hands.

and i think we're all wondering how different circumstances would have been if essek placed his trust in a different man, one who could match his intellect, appreciate his theories, and share his enthusiasm.
