caleb gets up everyday of c2 like yes i killed my whole family and then lost 11 years of my life and also now im trying to rewrite the timeline about it instead of actually facing it and also this is the first time in like 17 years ive socialized and also the first time in probably my whole life where my friendship wasn't founded and held together by shared trauma and abuse but im being really normal about it
reading 😌
my immediate thoughts after watching the first three episodes of tlovm season 4 were: wow i’m overwhelmed — in a good and bad way. i love this show, i do, but i find that the 25 min episode format rarely benefits a story. if they had more airtime i would feel so much more impacted by story beats. of course this has always been an issue when long-form storytelling gets adapted into film/tv, but i wonder what could’ve been if they had 45 min to work with.
i can’t help but wonder (and fear) how c1 will be wrapped up in season 5 of tlovm — the final season, which has been in production in tandem with season 4. since it will be the first critical role campaign adapted into a complete series, i wonder what writing approaches the creative team will take to wrap up the story.
i’m specifically curious about this because the mighty nein does have more airtime, so the creative team should be able to tell a more cohesive story. in a fireside chat with tasha huo, sam hinted that 5 seasons of the mighty nein would be “a story” but not the complete story, so it’s my personal prediction that we’ll get 6-7 seasons if all goes well.
i feel strongly about this because i think back to how annoyed i was with episode 6 of the mighty nein, specially due to how we didn’t get to see the group’s reaction to caleb’s backstory. i think many people were disappointed in that writing choice, along with a few other story beats that felt rushed (e.g. caleb and beau’s seemingly forced conflict). of course they can’t include everything from a 500+ hour campaign, but i really hope the following seasons don’t cut corners on important moments and character development, because they should be pretty damn confident that any future critical role projects are going to fare well. they can get their 7 seasons! they have so much story to work with, and i sincerely hope they do it justice and not rush.
is it obvious that i’m desperate for season 2 of the mighty nein? i am
i love that we can see exactly when keyleth realizes that she does believe in herself. confidence looks so good on her
Caleb using fresh bread as a muff instead of just using an actual muff = the best. (that part made me crave bear claws like WHOA)
Also, any time Molly and Caleb get close, I’m like *A THOUSAND EYEBALL EMOJIS*

In honour of the five year (five year??) anniversary of the end of C2 I did a redraw of the comic I made the day after the finale!!
their minds are in the gutter (affectionate) and that’s perfectly reasonable. because look at them. of course they’re obsessed with each other and horny 24/7
they are so sweet it actually hurts my heart
long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony
this background character's design is so pretty
girl me too
keyleth’s scenes actually brought tears to my eyes !!! the water trial, her tenderness towards vax, and most importantly her confidence ??? that’s the mf voice of the tempest right there. this season’s going to wreck me
You know that Essek would be a cat person bc the mighty nein blew into his life uninvited as dirty feral murderer hobos, bothered and inconvenienced him all the time, were a general nuisance, constantly fucked up his plans (they were ruined when they got there but still) and he fell in love with them forever and ever anyway.
When I picture him as a cat owner it’s to the scraggliest, scrappiest, most snaggletoothed, one-eyed little menace that yowls like a chainsmoking trucker and doesn’t let anyone but him pet it or pick it up
