idk how many times ive read you bruised the apple you made it rot but it's so good and I want more of your descendants rewrites, are you ever gonna finish it?

Hello ty so much! I def am planning on finishing it unfortunately life is busy 😭. In fact the next chapter of bruised apple is about halfway done! and i still plan on rewriting the other movies even if it continues to take me a hot minute

I’ve had a very chaotic few years since starting bruised apple, I finished highschool, got into college, had various life situations come and go, a host of neglected medical issues decided that they were sick of being neglected, all that sort of thing lol

Good news is that the past 4 ish months I’ve finally managed to start taking care of certain chronic issues that I couldn’t take care of properly before, so I’m kinda slowly taking my life back and getting my shit together. Getting on a writing schedule isn’t quite at the top of the list but it’s steadily making its way up there as I manage to clear out other things

Basically TLDR: I will finish it, I’m trying to get to a place where I can consistently post new chapters but getting to that place is taking some time, and I’m very appreciative of everyone who has enjoyed the story so far

I would love to get the next chapter out by the end of November but eh?? School hard my brain feels like a used shamwow

My most popular fic respite (it’s just another ATLA ‘zuko reveals his scar backstory fic’ but people are very nice about it) is at about 100k hits and 13k kudos,

Interestingly my second most popular fic is my still ongoing descendants fic bruised apple, which is chilling at around 42k hits and 1800 ish kudos

Most of my other fics are wayyy below that lol but I just wanna point out that hit to kudos ratio lol

Bruised apple has been ongoing since like. 2019. (It’ll be 5 at the end of the year which is. Insane actually) and I’m still working on it even though I’m incredibly slow, and I continue to get super kind comments to this day

Usually a large views to likes ratio (or in this case hits to kudos) is kinda bad lol, bc it implies that a lot of ppl are reading but not liking. But bc of how ao3 works anytime someone loads a page it counts as a hit. So if a fic is say 16 chapters you end up with a lot more hits than kudos

Bruised apple has maybe about 1/10 of the kudos that respite has, but slightly less than 1/2 the hits

And like, the reason it has so many hits is because people actually bothered to read the whole damn thing! It’s a bit of a monster at almost 80k words, not counting the related stories, and I’m a idiot who’s very slow to update but people keep reading?? And keep leaving kind comments??? Some people have been following the story for YEARS, for some reason???

I genuinely cannot wrap my head around it most of the time !

I absolutely appreciate all the people who read and commented on respite. And I’m really grateful to have a semi popular fic even if it’s maybe a little silly bc it’s not nearly as big or as good as some others

But my absolute favorite people are the individuals who leave me long detailed comments, or the ones who always show up in my inbox when I finally manage to post, or the people who let me know they’re rereading my fics, or the absolutely insane couple of people who drew something for my fics?????

The numbers are wonderful, but those connections mean so much to me. Even if those ppl eventually move on and never read my writing again those moments stay with me

Sorry for the long sappy rambling. But if you’re one of those readers I hope you know you’re appreciated

And also if your fics don’t get as much attention as you’d like, I hope you know i love you, and I hope the day comes that the right readers stumble across your work, because I know there’s someone out there who will love it. Sometimes it’s just hard for them to find it

can i get a director's cut on your trolls meta fic (the one where they watch trolls)?

anon i appreciate this ask very much tyyyyy

the fic mentioned here is past hurts, future plans, meta jokes, and poppy is fed up w/ creek's bs- which i have dubbed 'trolls meta insanity' for tagging reasons, bc i obviously tend to have titles that are wayyyy too long

speaking of titles the title is kinda sorta a reference to the title of my other 'the gang watches the show fic', secrets, reveals, meta jokes, and twilight's skyrocketing blood pressure, which is a spy x family fic that i am also very behind on. both fics follow the same naming conversation of 3 things you will find in the fic + one expression of stress from one of the main characters, bc i am a nerd who likes to connect things like that

i have a real love for "the characters watch their own show" fics as a concept, for two main reasons. one, i think the concept of being trapped in a room with the people you care about, and knowing that all of your secrets are about to be revealed, and there is no way for you to stop it, is such a damn fascinating concept.

most react fics ive read have the characters just kinda go along with it, and i understand why! it's much easier and you kinda just wanna jump right into the thing everyone is here for. and i honestly didn't intend for my own fics to spend so much time with the characters just struggling to accept their situations. but also i think the moments of them panicking are intresting and i did my best to make them fun, even if they go on a bit longer than i intended

the other thing i love about the concept is how deeply meta it is. seeing your own life as a TV show or movie, watching your own life and the lives of your loved ones from the outside.... do you, as a character, agree with how things are framed? how do you react to seeing the worst parts of yourself on display and knowing that you can't refute them because they're right there.

obviously not all of those are in the fic yet, ive been busy with real life and very behind on writing all of my fic series >~<.

at some point or another i decided i wanted to make some original scenes for them to react to (obviously also not in the fic yet) especially for Branch's brothers and for Viva, bc otherwise it feels a bit lopsided. for a bit i was considering going through brozone's original scenes first (where i had them each temporarily going Grey for various amounts of time) butttt i figured i'd already taken long enough to get into the damn movie so for now those moments have been delayed

the other part of meta stuff i enjoy is just the bits that dance with forth wall. i think Bluto the troll as a character is a pretty good example of that lol. i have a bunch of rambling about them in the notes of that fic, but just having a character that's basically like a story element that gained sentience and really isn't sure if they like it was just a really fun character to mess around with. i already have a small arc for them in mind and i know they're going to choose a new name for themself, although i haven't quite figured out what that name will be

anyway! i think i've rambled enough but if you or anyone else has any other questions on any of my fics, please let me know! i could literally go on for ages lol

i failed to write a "trolls watch trolls" fic w/ basically the whole main cast and instead accidentally wrote like 10k words of Branch and Poppy having to see Creek for the first time since his betrayal and them literally fist fighting him, everyone (especially Branch) having complicated feelings about Literally Everyone they care about being in danger, and some weird as hell meta commentary of the act of character creation.

also i just got a little distracted adding in some wholsome bonding moments bc im very adhd, John Dory is my poor little meow meow so he and the rest of the bros need some attention even if it kinda distracts from the plot

now i've written an additional 5k words and we got maybe 2 whole minutes into the movie bc everyone keeps having feelings about having to witness a trollstice in a very intense way, including gristle being very upset

and also everything became an indiana jones style adventure movie for a quick sec

also also very soon Branch is going to have to explain the whole Being Grey thing and i havent written it yet but i am excited
