tme people i find generally will take any opportunity to obscure their relationship to transmisogyny, and unfortunately the intersex activism space is basically entirely run by tme people. so its become disturbingly widespread that TMA/TME somehow dont also apply to them and that insisting they do is "intersexist". bc otherwise theyd have to reckon with Why there arent any intersex transfems with prominence in their spaces lol

I think I’ve been nervous to use TMA/TME since I’m not sure where I fall between those, and it feels a little unfair to view other people through a label I don’t even understand for myself. I’ve just had a complicated relationship with my own gender for a while, I guess? Either way I decided to just stick with TME to be safe for now, since I don’t really consider myself a woman, even if I sort of lean in that direction?

Anyway, sorry, not to dump my life story here. Your tags on the latest post sort of threw me for a loop I guess, since it sounds like not everyone who is TMA considers themselves a trans woman? I did a little research again to see if I could figure it out, but I didn’t really get any answers for myself, so I sorta hoped you might have more thoughts on those tags/expounding on that?

imo tma as a piece of language is part of an attempted move to focus on material relationships rather than identities (which are personal and subjective) for discussing gendered class relations.

in terms of hard definitions, i think its accurate to use the term as expansively as possible withing the hard constraints (camab+rendered an under-class through the social mechanisms of misogyny) rather than trying to draw the bounds at any identity.

i was tma before i identified as trans or a woman, i was already being treated in ways i now recognize as very clearly misogynistic even though no one pointed at me and clearly identified what i was.

you sound tma, anon, but i dont know enough about your situation to confidently do more than hopefully provide more tools for u to work with in analyzing ur own situation

Begging transfemmes to stop wearing your old boy underwear if you can. Apart from a cohort of butch transfemmes that get Gender from it, I promise it’s messing with you more than you think.

I know shopping for transfemme-friendly underwear fucking sucks bc so many panty bridges aren’t made wide enough to contain everything without causing Issues but brands friendlier to us do exist.

If you tuck I can’t recommend anything because I don’t, and disclaimer that This Isnt An Ad, but I’ve had such good luck with Parade that I’ve almost exclusively bought bras/bralettes and panties from them since I discovered them.

It’s not a 100% clear shot, but they have enough sales that you can get either individual or matching sets for pretty cheap and I’ve yet to have any break or get holes on me either, even the oldest ones. Their bralettes also fit “big torso small boobs” frames really well.

I also like Culprit for sports bras but nothing else personally tbh - they also have slightly more feminine boxers that the aforementioned butch transfemmes might really like.

If you have other recs, especially for tucking underwear, please chime in bc holy fuck please please please stop wearing pre-transition Hanes/FotL/etc. men’s underwear 😭
