Pride Month Art Challenge 2026

Year 3 of my Pride Month Art Challenge is officially in the books.

Not gonna lie this year was a bit tougher than last year, some of these got done in crunch time, but they all got done and all were posted before June was over.

Thank you to everyone who liked and reblogged my art this year. Even though pride month is over we have to remember to celebrate our queerness all year long. Despite people trying their best to silence us our queer joy and happiness will shine through. Remember to be your unapologetic self and never, ever, repress yourself for the sake of others.

And don’t worry, I already have ideas of who will appear next year.

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #30: Loki from Marvel Comics

Oh come on now, you guys know I can’t just do a single character portrait for the last day of the challenge. So much like last year I’m ending the challenge with another character with multiple forms, the god of mischief themselves, Loki.

As you can see I chose their Marvel Rivals iteration because unlike another very popular adaption of them, *cough* the MCU *cough* Rivals at least understood that Lady Loki is just Loki when they take on a female form, like many deities do throughout mythology. Seriously though the MCU making Lady Loki a separate character from male Loki and then making them love interests pisses me off so bad. Like I know Disney hates gays but really? You’re going to do selfcest to avoid showing Loki being genderfluid? Even in the 2020s we still have to fight to get proper queer representation in media.

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #29: Nico from Will Trent

Okay look, I’m allowed to watch a procedural every now and then, sometimes you just need to turn your brain off with something formulaic. Also it’s basically my mom’s fault that I know anything about Will Trent. She watches it from time to time and I end up catching a stray episode every now and then because of it. So no I don’t know all the characters arcs or the multi-episode plots but I know the basics of the show, I think.

But now onto Nico, I’m sorry what do you mean a reoccurring character on a procedural show is queer? Like the show blatantly states in Nico’s first appearance that they’re non-binary. Like I’m sure other procedurals have had queer characters way before Will Trent was even on the air but this is definitely the only one I can think of in which said queer has multiple appearances. It just goes to show that every piece of media can have queer representation and that shows shouldn’t be afraid to have it.

Also oh my god I can’t believe tomorrow is the last day of the challenge already!

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #28: Carol from Pluribus

Okay so truth be told I haven’t actually done a full watch of this series. I got served the clips of it when it was new but man does this universe seem so bleak to be in, and the show definitely leans into that. The themes of isolation are certainly at the forefront from what I’ve seen.

Also the decision to make the main character a queer woman really just adds to the over all sense of dread and horror. Especially when it gets revealed that Carol had actually been sent to conversion therapy as a teenager. So the idea of another group trying to get her to assimilate and lose her individuality and by extension her queerness, man that hits hard.

So yeah I definitely need to actually sit down and watch this show because I definitely feel like I’ll have even more to talk about once I’ve seen it. Also man I can’t believe there’s only 2 days left of the challenge!

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #27: Darem from Starfleet Academy

What if you 🫵🏽 were a bisexual fish man who has a thing for a hot gay Klingon but said hot gay Klingon was already taken by a human with a dumb name like Kyle. That probably hasn’t happened to you but it certainly happened to my good friend Darem here.

Yeah there was no way I couldn’t draw this jealous little fish after drawing Jay-Den and Kyle. Obviously I love those two together and had I been in the writers room I would’ve tried to make the Jay-Den has 2 hands ending work but alas Hollywood has not called me in to punch up any scripts yet.

Again Star Trek basically invented being woke so the complaints about the queerness in Starfleet Academy are just so ridiculous to me. Like clearly these people have not been paying attention to the whole franchise. So hopefully all our boys end happy in season 2, and hey maybe now Darem can find his own perfect partner now that he isn’t next in line to rule his home planet.

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #26: Stef and Lena from The Fosters

Fun fact if you look up the definition of the word mother in the dictionary, a photo of these will be there.

No but like yall I did not play around when it came to The Fosters. Literally check my blogs archives I was live-blogging new episodes like it was my job back in high school. Mind you this show came out in 2013, I was only 15 and had only recently realized I was gay so I was sat for a show centering around a family with same-sex parents. Stef and Lena weren’t just a big deal to me but also queer history in general as their marriage was the first queer marriage on television to happen after the overturning of the Defense of Marriage Act.

So yeah The Fosters was very important for my early queer years because despite all the bat shit insane shenanigans this family got into they also showed that there’s no one definition for what a family should look like.

Also I used their season 5 promo looks because I actually haven’t watched Good Trouble at all so I don’t know what they look like by the end of that show, oops.

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #25: Ilya and Shane from Heated Rivalry

Oh come on, did you really think I wouldn’t draw these two? Of course it made sense to draw Scott and Kip first because well, their story came first but Shane and Ilya’s is the one that got fully adapted.

Honestly I still remember seeing the first promo still for the show and not really thinking much about it. Cut to 6 episodes later and I had thoroughly enjoyed myself. Granted my experience in fandoms past had me do my tried and true practice of only having one or two mutuals that I talk about it with, and seeing all the things that have happened in that fandom at large since the show premiered, I think I made the right choice.

Honestly though I think the critique of how the sports world still views queer players, even now in 2026, is probably the biggest message we should take away from this show for pride month. Pride month isn’t just a celebration for us, it’s a protest to show that no matter what others do we will still be here, even if it makes them uncomfortable. So who knows maybe one day the number of closeted professional athletes will be lower thanks in a little bit to the heated rivalry of these game changers.

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #24: Jordan from Gen V

Man the IHop parking lot is getting full with all the people I’m asking yall to help me fight in it, because Eric Kripke is now apart of it. Like dude a third season of Gen V would’ve been the perfect epilogue to The Boys to show what the world is like without Homelander, but no, we gotta cancel Gen V and do a prequel show where one of the lead characters is a literal bigot.

Alright rant over let’s talk about Jordan. I don’t I’ve ever seen a character in a piece of media quite like Jordan, especially superhero media. Like a person whose powers makes them bigender is something I never thought I’d see in the genre, and Gen V actually showed how that made Jordan struggle in ways you can’t show with other characters. It even affected their relationship with Marie, but thank god our girl told them that she loves every part of them. Dammit I’m gonna miss seeing these two. The 2 seconds of them we got in that dogshit last season of The Boys was downright insulting.

But hey at least I got to use another new flag background as Jordan is the first bigender character I’ve drawn. So Jordan, we will miss you but thank you for bringing awareness and representation to the bigender community.

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #23: Poison from Final Fight/Street Fighter

Okay yeah insert the two nickels joke here because I’ve drawn another video game character whose transgender identity hasn’t officially been confirmed for this year. She also has pink in her color scheme like Birdo does.

Now I know we all here on tumblr.com are in agreement that Poison is definitely a member of the wonderful trans community despite the wishy-washy stance Capcom has taken on the issue. Like what do you mean one of the producers of Street Fighter 4 said “oh yeah she’s trans” but then walked it back later on. Uh uh big company, too late now, she’s trans and we have accepted it.

Also hey Capcom, I know she’s only in the background of a stage currently but can my girl please be playable again eventually in SF6? Like she deserves it, I want my pink haired whip warrior back in action.

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #22: Velma from Scooby-Doo

You know it’s kinda funny how Velma is one of the most famous detectives in fiction yet her own sexuality was a big mystery for many many years.

I mean obviously us here on tumblr were claiming her as queer from the start, especially when it was revealed that her and Daphne were roommates in the What’s New Scooby-Doo continuity. Then there was Mystery Incorporated where she was definitely getting sapphic with Hot Dog Water. Also I think one of the producers confirmed later on that they end up together but I could be wrong.

So thank god Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo finally gave her a canon on screen queer love interest. I’m not sure how popular Velma and Coco are here but hey at least they can’t walk queer Velma back now.

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #21: Gobber from How To Train Your Dragon

HTTYD fandom make some noise!!!

The way this franchise had younger me in a chokehold, like I didn’t just watch the movie I watched the series too when it came out, and was subsequently so disappointed when the sequel movies didn’t use or reference anything that happened in the show. This is what we call supplemental material folks.

Also can y’all believe there’s still people who don’t realize that Gobber is actually for real gay? Like okay sure his one throw away line in the first movie about having 2 reasons why he didn’t get married is one thing, but he was also shown to have an attraction to Eret in the sequels. So check and mate, the gay viking is real.

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #20: Juleka and Rose from Miraculous Ladybug

Guys I honestly still can’t believe that JuleRose is actually canon. Like… we literally saw them kiss. Juleka gained the courage she needed to sing her song because of her girlfriend, her canon girlfriend. JuleRose has been shipped for years and we finally got the in show confirmation of it in season 6.

Obviously Miraculous will never be a perfect show, its abundance of flaws will always be present and haunting the narrative, but it was really nice to finally get confirmed sexualities of several characters after years of speculation and headcanons. So definitely expect more Miraculous characters in future challenges.

Also kinda funny that I’ve only drawn Miraculous character in their season 6 designs because of timing of it premiering and me expanding the challenge out to characters on all parts of the queer spectrum.

Pride Month Art Challenge Day #19: Q and Jin from XO Kitty

Okay so despite having had a whole year to do so, I still haven’t actually watched any of the To All The Boys movies. Yet I have now watched all 3 seasons of XO Kitty.

Look I’ll be the first to admit I wasn’t entirely sure about drawing these two for this years challenge, especially after the love triangle they faced in season 3 but like, look a teen drama letting the gays in on the relationship drama that hetero couples face in the genre is another way that shows how representation has expanded since back in the day. Queer couples can be just as messy as straight ones.

I also will admit I do miss their rivals to lovers dynamic from season 2. It just added a bit of extra flavor to them, which is maybe why they didn’t intrigue me as much in season 3. But hey, they still end up together by the end so they meet the criteria for me to draw them together. Now the question just remains if we’ll see them one more time in a potential season 4.
