i love that in tma there’s very much like, a vague secret monster underground society, where they all keep tabs on each other and know what’s going on and have specific politics and rules for how to interact with each other (especially obvious in how jude, mike, nikola, and eventually oliver talk about things)

but then daisy, a literal detective, who had been In the supernatural world for DECADES, had absolutely no idea. she was like “idk theres some vampires and people with superhuman strength and also other weird shit i guess” and that was it. jon couldnt sneeze without 8 different avatars popping up to say random cryptic shit about Archivists and cults and rituals and ~spiders pulling strings~ and im pretty sure she literally hadnt even heard of the Fears before in any meaningful way.

like yea she was a cop and a bastard but have we considered she might have also just been DISTRESSINGLY bad at actually investigating anything. i know she didnt care about petty things like “guilt” but even trevor and julia had the presence of mind to like, gather information on the people they hunted through gerry. what, did daisy literally just follow their actual scent or footprints and nothing else?

thinking about this again because like, this is the core of daisy’s character. she embodies the “always gets their man” bullshit most cops parrot.

she does get her man, in the worst way.

she didn’t investigate who killed gertrude, she just Wanted to hunt jon, and so she did. it didnt matter that he was innocent, or even that there was literal evidence against her, she wanted him, so she tore through everything to get him. she killed mike crew after like two seconds just because he was in the same vicinity as jon.

cops fundamentally do not solve crimes. i mean, sure, they arrest a lot of people for breaking the law, but those people frequently have nothing to do with the crime in question or were actively framed by the cops. “Always gets their man” doesn’t mean they’ll keep going until they find the culprit, it means that if they want to hurt you, they can, and no one can stop them.

Happy RQG-versary! One of my favourite details about  the show is how it started - with the skies above London… the crowd below… and Sasha :)
