“…do you need a cough drop or something?”
“It’s no problem. If you ever need a healing spell or something you can just ask…” Hix wasn’t a bad guy to be around, Luc could say that much about him. Meek was certainly something else Luc could say about him, but it wasn’t necessarily a bad thing, Luc did feel a bit sorry for him though at times. Dealing with Tengaar was probably a nightmare. Although it seemed like she stepped all over him more often than not…
He could’ve been imagining it but there was a tone to his voice that suggested helplessness and his thoughts immediately start saying nasty things about how he always needed help from others and when will he start being a man? Hix could feel himself shrink.
“No...I-I’m fine.”

Kinnison sighed a bit when Hix said they could rest, it had been quite some time and his arms weren’t used to holding a sword, while they weren’t out of shape by any stretch, it was still difficult picking up something you had no experience with at all.
Perhaps he was better off as an archer, but swordplay was a valuable skill to have, so he’d at least like to know the basics of it. And he was able to use this as a chance to spend time with Hix, he was pleasant to be around. Kinnison didn’t really have any friends like this before joining the army, while the solitude found in the forests of Ryube was nice, this was nice too.
“Oh?” He blinked at the canteen held out to him, taking it after a pause and drinking a bit before handling it back, “Ah, thank you, I don’t need all of it though, I’m all right.”
Hix nodded and tucked the water back away. It was a pleasant day, probably one of the best to be training. It was not too hot but the weather still provided a warm heat ( but that must’ve just been the warrior; all too use to the humidity ).
“Do you have any plans after this, Kinnison?”

“…do you need a cough drop or something?”
funeral-wind:
Luc honestly wasn’t convinced of this, but he wasn’t going to push much, “…well, if you say so. Try to take care of yourself though. Tea might help.”
“Oh - “ Hix was surprised by the sudden compassion that Luc was showing, especially since the two men were not exactly close. “Thank you...”
!!!
“…do you need a cough drop or something?”
Luc quirked a brow at the man, “Are you sure? You sounded like you lost your voice or something.” …does he need to get Doctor Huan over here?
“N-No, it’s fine! I - just - s-sorry. I’m f-fine.” He stammered out quickly. Hix didn’t want to worry anybody and besides - at this point all he wanted to do was crawl back under his covers in embarrassment.
!!!
“…do you need a cough drop or something?”
He shook his head. The scream only turned out to be a quiet hiccup. How embarrassing. “N-No t-thank you.”
He nodded with some hesitance, “Ah, all right…” Well, if he was certain, he really didn’t want to be a disappointment. Kinnison took the blade from him after a moment, taking a little while to look at it, it certainly was in much better shape than the one he had been using prior, Hix clearly took great care of it. All the more reason to feel a little nervous while handling it.
Enough staring at it, Kinnison… He shook his head a bit no use getting nervous he was supposed to be trying to get this down or at least get a little better than he was earlier. Sighing he readied himself and took a few swings with it, it did feel a bit more natural than the other one, so it was easier for him to swing fluidly, although his stance was still a little odd, but since he had never really done this before he couldn’t be faulted too much.
He nodded, satisfied with the immense improvement that Kinnison showed the minute that Hix’s sword was in his grasp. Not perfect but you can’t be too harsh on him - after all, it was his first day with the weapon and it was a huge step from a few hours ago. Hours ago, Hix couldn’t bear himself to watch the whole deal.
“Very good! We can take a break now.” Hix then opened a small brown bag he took with him and pulled out a canteen of water along with a few snacks. The snacks were made by Tengaar who seemed very excited that Hix was teaching his friends how to ‘be a man’ as she puts. He pops open the lid of the canteen and starts downing the liquid quickly.
He lets out a content sigh and holds out the canteen to Kinnison with a smile. “Oh, sorry did you want some? Here you can have it! You deserve it.”
(5) Headcanon - Different
Hix always knew that he was different from the rest of Warriors Village and even if most of his life he struggles to conform into his village’s expectations. He even often gets down on how he could never be the perfect image of a man that Tengaar and everybody else wants him to be.
When he figured out that he liked men and women (demisexuality), he felt as if he was more of an outcast than he’s ever been. Slowly, Hix is learning how to be okay of who he is as a person.
i just wanted to say before y’all shit your pants or something that hix and kinnison are probably going to makeout soon but its like in a separate universe where hix is not like tengaar’s true love?
its like the gay au basically
SO KEEP THAT IN MIND
“Ah—”
Kinnison blinked when threw the sword away, well so much for that then. He could only presume there was something wrong with it, not that he was able to tell or know himself. Hopefully he wouldn’t be too much a bother with how little he knew.
When Hix held his sword out for him to use he hesitated, was that really all right? Tengaar was his personal sword ad clearly important to Hix after all.
“Are you sure? I could try to just find another one that’s better.”
“Do not worry, Kinnison. You’re not going to damage her. I take extra care of Tengaar, she will help you.” Hix insisted, holding out the sword. He was kind - so he wouldn’t ruin Tengaar. And even if there was an accident, the metal that the weapon has been forged in does not bend easily.
“I don’t mind at all.” He smiled. “Have faith.”
Somehow this meeting had ended up with Hix instructing Kinnison on the basics of swordplay, given Kinnison was rather curious and had asked. He didn’t expect this to be so strange for him though. Kinnison’s stance was very awkward, he couldn’t really recall holding a blade before either, he’d always wielded a bow for as long as he could remember. Even if it was understandable that he wouldn’t be good at first, he still couldn’t help but feel embarrassed at how bad he was certain he was.
“Um, I don’t think I’m doing this correctly…”

He was honored - and extremely confused at the same time.
Hix was sure that there were many other greater swordsmen than himself, all more confident and skilled that could certainly do a better job of teaching Kinnison. However it seemed like his friend insisted to be taught by him so all Hix could do was try his best.
Although...it seems as if Kinnison has never held a sword in his life. His stance was rather improper and his swings were often unbalanced. He let out a small sigh. Him not being the greatest teacher and Kinnison not being the greatest swordsman - this could take awhile.
“Ah - it’s okay! We have plenty of time, don’t worry. I think it may be your sword - can you hand it to me please? Thank you.” He held the sword in his hand, testing the weight and the grip. It seemed to be cheaply made - not very balanced and it looks like the blade has dulled over the years. Hix threw the sword aside and unsheathed Tengaar.
“Here, use Tengaar. She’s better than that other sword, it might help you. Trust me.”
