I wanted to post something about your fandom for the first time on this day that many are choosing to recognize you, because I want you to know how much you mean to me. I started watching your channel a little over a year ago, and though I’ve been watching YouTubers and let’s plays for many years now, no channel has captivated me like yours. Although you’re hilarious and your reactions and game content was the original draw, the more I’ve seen and gotten to know you through your content, the more respect I have for you and the more I appreciate all that you do.
You blew me away with “A Date With Markiplier”. I’d never seen anything like it and it was so well done and just amazing! It really showed your dedication and your love of creating. Then you went and outdid yourself with “Who Killed Markiplier”, which I was especially amazed to find out you lost money on making that project; I mean that whole endeavor was incredible enough, but to learn that on top of it just showed that you put your joy of creating before anything else, which is so important.
Your generosity became evident with all your charity livestreams every month, and all the funds you helped raised and even donated yourself. I’ve known plenty of people to do big charity events, but the fact you did it monthly, raising awareness for all these different causes and putting in that time and effort, that was so compassionate and really just inspiring; I donated for the first time because of one of those streams and the fact you inspire me to be a better person constantly.
Then of course there’s the “You’re Welcome Tour”, which took so much commitment, and was really unlike anything I’d ever seen. For the first time I was excited about a fandom that I was in; I’ve always been more of a lurker when it comes to the things that I love, but I definitely wanted to go see that tour and got the chance in L.A. which was just such a great experience. After that I continued to be excited by the community and started chatting on twitch, on your discord, and the other social media platforms which have helped me connect with other friends of mine and new friends from your community. I’ve been trying to get back into shape, it was my New Year’s resolution and it flopped until your silly video where you challenged yourself to work out on camera because it embarrassed you, and since then I’ve been so motivated and have been working out several times a week – I know you didn’t even mean for it to be inspiring but that’s the thing, it’s just the fact that you put all of yourself into what you do, that you always want to better yourself and help others and be a good person that it’s honestly affected me into wanting to do all of those things too, more so than I ever have before.
From all your big projects to your little challenges and skits, or the moments when you get serious and real, the zany vlogs and the card-signing chats, they’re all the chance to hang out with you and I love every one of them. I’m bummed that we’ll really never be friends, but I’m so glad that I at least get to be your fan. You’re only human, just one man with a big heart that does his best to surround himself with happiness and awesome friends (and dogs), but really thank you, for everything.
