At the store where I work she said, she said, “I thought you guys shared a door with that Christian book store, and I got scared for a minute.”

& on my hat a silver fish an old school symbol of the faith.

You know I heard back in the day people used to draw half of the symbol and if the other person was a believer then they finished the symbol,

but I didn’t ask her why she was scared no I “I say unto thee, That this night, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.”

And without even realizing it, I did.

In my mind, she comes back.

I kneel down and in the berber I draw a small arc.

I stand up and she looks scared shitless now.

I know the televangelists (NOW JUST PUT YOUR HANDS ON THE TELEVISION, WHOA JESUS NOW, PRAISE GOD!!!) might be something to fear, and the idea of a group of people who preach kindness and forgiveness being so rude and hostile is a scary thing in and of itself,

but please

we’re not all like that, us Christians.

Some of us just want to love and be loved like we sometimes forget we already are.
