Okay first of all, not part of the latest chapter, but THIS??

You know Mel has waited so long to hear those words from Tristan. And he is so thrilled (and so proud) here

Also I know I've mentioned this before but this is literally the same exact reaction Mel had to Zel inviting him to the demon realm and calling him brother again (and this fact, is in fact, absolutely killing me - the shock to barely contained happiness afagsdgd THEY LOVE YOU MEL LET THEM LOVE YOU)

(And bro was PREPARED. No hesitation just instant action calling for Thetis and just generally being like okay let's gooo)

(Also anyone else get flashbacks to prisoners of the sky with the whole "don't hold back because I'm your son" line? No just me... So many parallels with these chapters. The mel-tristan mel-zel one, this and prisoners of the sky, Tristan and Lance both asking their fathers to train them, another one i will probably make a gifset/edit for)

Okay back to the chapter. I absolutely LOVED getting to hear more about the effects (positive and negative) of using their demon powers (and the confirmation that yes demon powers heighten your senses). But also hearing Mel talk about how HE uses his powers and his strategy and all !!!

One of my absolutely favorite bits of this chapter was how Tristan repeatedly expressed admiration of his dad. Because when the 4kota left Liones 2 years ago Mel was sure he hated him and even when Eli pointed out the opposites the he was like oh we'll I haven't heard anything like that from him. But now he has! (and it was so sweet too!) So maybe now Mel can actually start to accept that his son doesn't hate him (again - LET THEM LOVE YOU MEL)

(Also Tristan calling him Papa all chapter 🥹😭)

【KNY】 I just wanted to draw a contrasting concept 😳 Lately, I’ve been listening to Demon Slayer’s soundtrack, and I noticed that the music for Rengoku holding back Akaza and for Tengen’s standoff with Gyutaro share a similar rhythmic structure. It really highlights the sense of urgency and the feeling that a third party is needed to break the deadlock. In both cases, Tanjiro happens to be nearby, about to join the fight. I’m not sure if Go Shiina did this intentionally, but I definitely picked up on that sense of contrast 🙏 And in the Infinity Castle arc, Tanjiro also assists the Hashira in battle — another nice parallel.
