Just saw someone say that "Marsha would be disappointed" by people wearing "overly sexual" outfits at pride.
Marsha P Johnson is not a prop to pull out whenever you want to make a point. She was a real person who didn't exist to justify whatever politics you're favouring at this moment. Her story and legacy deserve care and love; they aren't weapons to attack other community members.
TERFs (transgender exclusionary radical feminists) have gotten a hold of this post and have used it as an opportunity to misgender Marsha P Johnson.
This is the problem. The lack of respect for the actual person, the prioritizing of personal beliefs over everything, the lack of care.
Queer history doesn't exist to validate your arguments; it doesn't exist to make your side of the discourse look good. The exact people this post was aimed at have completely missed the point and believed us to be on the same side so let me make this abundantly clear:
Using queer history as a lens to understand the queer present is what we do here, but if you manipulate the facts, and strategically ignore parts of people, to get the point you want to get across, you are truly no better than the people who have erased us from the history books.
If your point can't be made without the truth being lost, you're wrong.
Me: This thing is triggering to me!
Them: You’re overreacting!
It’s almost like that’s what being triggered means!

This is supposed to be a shitty witch tip, but now I’m pondering the possible uses of the chemical illustration of a caffeine molecule as a sigil….

fatphobia is so deeply embedded in peoples psyche that they live in perpetual fear of being/becoming fat. people shape their whole lives around their fatphobia b/c they’d rather be dead than fat. our entire culture and institutions, yes even the medical field work to propagate that fear, branding fatness as a death sentence.
you’re not a better, more moral, or more accomplished person than homeless people. you’re not a better, more moral, or more accomplished person than drug addicts. you’re not a better, more moral, or more accomplished person than sex workers.
as i see people genuinely celebrating so many sex workers losing their jobs/main source of income today, you are not more deserving of respect or compassion than sex workers and you’re not more deserving of respect or compassion than drug addicts or homeless people.
