Hands To Yourself

Maybe you’ve got a handsy coworker, maybe you like to go out but don’t want to deal with grabby asshats, maybe you just don’t like being touched and want something to nip that in the bud before anyone even tries. Well, this is the spell for you then, ducklings.

What You’ll Need:

Clay, enough to make a decent sized poppet

Thorns, Nails, or other pointy objects

A focus to tie the spell to yourself (hair, nail clippings, spit, blood, ect)

A written piece outlining the rules for who can touch you, when. This could also be spoken as a chant/vocal component to your spell while you’re making the poppet, but I don’t do verbal components, so I write it out and put it inside the poppet.

What to do:

Start by writing out the rules for who can touch you, and when. This can be as simple as “No person will ever touch me without my consent, or in a way to makes me unhappy.” or as elaborate as getting into specific people and times/circumstances when they may touch you. If you’re wanting to protect against a specific person or circumstance, then write something along the lines of “Andy will never touch me.” or “I may drink as much as a like without receiving unwanted touch and advances.” It’s very open for personalization. So have at.

Next, get your clay, salt dough will work too. Start to shape it into a human figure, it doesn’t have to look like you. Once you’ve got it mostly done, hollow out a little bit in the center. Add your rules for touching, and your focus to tie the spell to yourself. Close up the clay and smooth it out until you’re happy with your slightly-human looking clay figure. 

Now, get your sharp things ready. If you like to use verbal components to spellwork, then now would be when you start reciting the rules for touching. If you’re like me and don’t like to talk while you cast, just continue to focus on your rules for touching, and keeping creepers from putting their hands on you. Do that while you put your pointy objects in your doll. Put the BLUNT end of your pointy objects into the clay! Sharp end out, blunt end in. Be careful not to cut or poke yourself. Put as many pointy things on the doll as you like. You can use thorns, nails, bits of glass, needles, those pointy hair things on cactus's that SUCK, anything that’s got a sharp or pointy end.

That’s it, it’s that easy. Let your poppet dry, and keep it somewhere safe. If you ever want to break the spell, smash the clay doll.

You could certainly make this spell for someone else, just use a focus to tie the spell to them instead of yourself.

Construct in a Box--Building a Construct for Protection

Miri and I made a construct a while back, with the intent of protecting our family from physical and emotional abuse. We were worried about the well being of our nephews, and wanted to make sure they would be okay. We didn’t have anything to tie a spell specifically to them though, so we made the decision to create a spell for our entire family/bloodline. Rather than just a spell though, we end up building a construct. Now, he’s actually taken on a bit of a life all his own. He’s well programmed, and does exactly what he’s supposed to, but he seems to have his “favorites” that he spends more time hanging around, and he clearly has a personality. 

This one isn’t really an easy spell. It took a lot of prep work, and a lot of energy. So be sure to take your time and get everything in order before you start. You can change things around to build a construct for a different purpose, but I’m going to go over how we made ours.

What you’ll need:

A box, jar, or other seal-able storage container.

A poisonous flower. (we used Pride-of-Barbados)

A spice or herb with a strong profile. (we used Star Anise)

A plant with a natural means of defense. (we used a thorned length of Blackberry vine)

A stone associated with protection. (we used Obsidian)

Your blood.

Clay

Start with a clean, dry storage container. We used a wooden box. We prepped it by writing @pomegranateandivy‘s dispel sigil on the inside lid, so that if we ever need to destroy our construct, all we have to do is open the box.

Now, you’re not just building a spell with this, you’re creating a new being. So, we actually set up a circle to keep unwanted attention out. Each item being added to the box isn’t just a spell component for your construct’s programming, it’s also the basis for their personality and behavior. We wanted a construct that would be capable of actively defending our family from those who would do them harm--even if those intending harm are family themselves. The programming to protect from harm is stronger than the programming for protect family.

Since each component is the basis for part of your construct’s personality, you need to take your time and have a clear image of what it is you want to get out of each ingredient.

We started with cinnamon. Cinnamon is protection. We wanted his core motive in everything to be protecting people. This means different things to each of us though. We both prepared a few keywords for what protection would mean. Protection from physical harm. Protection from emotional harm. Averting bad luck. These are a few of the things we focused on. Once we charged the cinnamon stick, it went into the box.

Next was the star anise. We picked star anise because it’s strong--in taste and smell--and distinct, if you taste anise you know what it is. We wanted our construct to be strong, so he would be capable of protecting our family. Physically strong, emotionally strong, decisive, and having enough of a presence to accomplish his goals. Same thing, long process of charging the anise, and then into the box it went.

Miri and I wanted to include a means for our construct to protect our family, because raw strength is good, but natural tools are better. This is where the blackberry vine and the pride-of-barbados come in. Each offers him a different set of skills. The blackberry is his means of attack. We likened it to claws when we were building him, so that if need be he could attack in order to defend. Blackberry is also a bit of a weed, so it gives him tenacity. The pride-of-barbados was chosen for it’s poisonous nature. We decided that we didn’t just want him passively protecting our family, but that we wanted to give him the ability to remove continuous threats, as well as immunity to the emotional poison those people present. By including poison in his construction, we made him immune to miasmic forces. By giving him poison, we gave him the ability to slowly wear down those who would do harm to our family, until they decide it’s healthier for them if they just leave.

Obsidian was added next. Obsidian acts as his heart basically. We focused on giving him motivation beyond a command with the obsidian. We focused on him being able to understand and appreciate our bonds and who we are as people, to give him reasons for keeping us and ours safe. We charged the obsidian the same way we did everything else, but we also took the time to charge it with breath. This means we each held it in our hands, up to our mouths, and focused on our breath going into the stone and into our construct as we inhaled and exhaled.

Finally, we both added our own blood, to tie him to our family. We then closed the box, and covered the entire thing in clay to seal it. We wrote his commands into the wet clay, and let it dry. For reference, his commands are as follows:

Our breath is your breath, our blood is your blood;

With your breath you serve to keep our blood safe,

You guard those who need shielding,

You take down attackers, be they stranger or family,

You remove poisoned persons from our midst;

Feed on the ill will linked to us,

Let it give you strength that you may continue your task,

And no matter the size of our clan,

May you grow stronger every year so that you may watch over all of us,

And generations yet to come,

Take no orders but The First,

Until your contract is broken by one of our line;

We guard your body,

We feed your being,

And in return you are our sword and shield.

He is fairly self sustaining, feeding on negative energy generated by and/or directed at our family. We only needed to give him extra food once when he was still forming. It took about three weeks for him to fully form, though he was outside of his cocoon(yes, he had a cocoon on the astral) within ten days. 

We added in the stipulation about taking orders, because we didn’t want him to ever come under control of someone within the family who might use him maliciously. 

He seems to travel between our different family members fairly regularly, checking up on them, but he spends most of his time around the children and the ill it seems. 

Personality wise and ability to interact with us, he seems on par with a very smart, very loyal animal. He is definitely not on the humanoid spectrum. 

He communicates best with the empaths in the family. It seems that because we designed him so that emotions would be his main food source and his biggest cue for stepping into action, emotions also are his language. If you aren’t so good at communicating via emotions, then you might want to build your construct with more language skills.

Speak Well of Me Spell

Maybe your sick of that one neighbor talking shit about you, or you’re gunning for a promotion and want to make a coworker talk about all your good traits to your boss. Maybe you’re just looking to get some good PR going. This spell is for those needs. Be warned, it’s not for those with an aversion to blood magic, but it’ll get the job done.

What you’ll need:

A Jar, with a lid.

Tongue, yes tongue. You can get beef tongue at the butcher shop or some grocery stores. 

Needle & Thread.

Representation of Your Target. This spell only focuses on one person, not a whole group.

Honey, Sugar, or Agave Nectar.

Alcohol. Think wine, whiskey, bourbon, ect... Stuff for consumption, not rubbing alcohol.

A few Drops of Your Blood

Start with a clean, empty jar. Lay out your tools, and get your space ready. If you need/want candles and/or a circle to help you focus then now would be the time to set that up.

Beef tongue can be pretty big. If you’re using beef tongue and don’t want to use the whole thing, then cut off the tip of the tongue for your spell, and make some enchiladas or something with the rest of that. Grab your needle, thread, and representation of your target. If you’re using a photo, their name written on something, or a bit of their handwriting then you’re going to sew the focus onto the bit of tongue. If you have their hair, then you can just tie it around the tongue. Really thinking about the person the spell is targeted to while you’re doing this. The tongue is representative of their tongue and their words.

Drop the tongue into your jar and add your sweetener. Honey, sugar, agave nectar, these will all work. You don’t have to coat or cover the tongue, but give it a good layer of sweetness. This is to sweeten the words they have to say. All of these sweeteners are also associated with positive thought though for a lot of people. Think about sugar in cookies and stuff, or honey in tea and how these associations hold positive connotations for a lot of people. The sweetener doesn’t just sweeten their words, it helps to make them associate you with good things.

Next is the alcohol. Alcohol has a very long history of being used as an offering, in this case, a peace offering. It’s something of a metaphysical bribe for the spell target. They may never know about it, but it’s still there. It also has the connotation of making people’s tongues loose. This is a good thing now that you’ve moved to sweeten the things this person has to say about you, because you want them to say those things frequently.

Finally, add a few drops of your own blood to tie the spell to you. This focuses the spell in. Before this, you’ve effectively put together a spell to make your target say nice things a lot, but not about anyone in specific. Adding your blood to the jar focuses those nice words on you.

Close up your jar and stash it somewhere safe. I don’t recommend burying it, since you may want to open the jar and break the spell eventually. Go ahead and stick it somewhere it’s not likely to be messed with though. Congrats, your target should have nice things to say about you now.

Severing an Emotional Bond

Sometimes you just need a spell to help you get the fuck over the emotional ties that someone has with you. This kind of spell is permanent usually. If you’re going through the effort and putting enough energy into destroying a bond that it actually works, you probably will never be able to form any kind of bond with that person again; so be sure you want them out of your life and you don’t have any intentions of trying to fix things before you cast this.

You’ll need:

A Glass Jar with a lid

A Focus item for THEM

A Focus item for YOURSELF

Representations of your relationship with them. This can be photos of the two of you, letters, keepsakes, ect...

Salt

Alcohol, any kind, even rubbing alcohol will do

A Cloth Bag big enough to fit the jar inside

A Plastic Bag big enough to fit the jar in the cloth bag into

A Hammer

Place your focuses (these are usually photos of the person’s face *make sure no one else is in the image for a focus*, bits of handwriting, their full name and/or birthday, hair, blood, ect....) into the jar. Add the representations of your relationship with that person. While you’re doing this, take your time, let the emotions fill you up. It’s gonna hurt like hell emotionally, but that’s important. You need to put your emotions about this person and your past relationship with them into the spell in order for it to work. If you don’t take your time and let those emotions leave you, then the spell isn’t going to be effective.

Next, add the alcohol. Alcohol is used for a couple reasons. One, think of all those old school movies where the tough hero uses a bottle of whiskey or whatever to clean out his wound and keeps going; rubbing alcohol used to cleanse wounds, ect... it’s cleansing. Also, it’s destructive. Alcohol is highly flammable, and in large amounts/high concentrations it’s deadly. The alcohol is to destroy the bond and cleanse the old wounds left from it.

Salt is next. The salt is for some additional cleansing. I recommend adding enough salt that it isn’t dissolving. Put the lid on it, and shake it up. Let those little salt granules scratch all that shit up.

When you’re good and done shaking the jar, put it inside the cloth bag. I actually recommend putting that inside a plastic bag then, because things are about to get messy. Make sure that it’s all closed up good and tight, then smash that shit. You’ve created this little jar that holds all the energy and emotions of your relationship, destroy it. You don’t need to go overboard, just one or two good hits should do it. Try to be careful not to rip the bags though, because it’s a LOT easier to clean up this way. Finally, throw that away. If you can, throw it away off your property.

Free Witchcraft Spells- Mojo Mirror-altered

This spell is a good idea but the execution is not so good. I’m going to give some ideas on how to change this to include intent and change it to give it maximum oomph and make sure it doesn’t come back to harm the caster. (Also I really don’t like that the source calls this a Voodoo Revenge Spell. way to be ethnocentric and marginalize a culture and practice by simplifying a spell in a way that isn’t safe or sane.)

okay so here is the original spell as it is posted:

Mojo Mirror

Yes, sorry for the silly spell titles. I can't help myself sometimes. This one uses the reflective power of a mirror to return bad energy back to someone who deserves it. The results on your target will usually be closely related to what they did to you in the first place. A very appropriate Voodoo revenge spell.

A small mirror without a frame (try a craft store)

Black paint

Dark rum

Do this spell after the sun goes down, though you don't have to actually be in the dark when you perform it. Pour rum over the mirror, and leave it on a cloth or in a dish to air dry on its own. Once the rum has dried, use a brush to paint a thick X over the face of the mirror.

Repeat the name of the person you are casting the spell on 5 times, and then smash the mirror (do this over newspaper or cloth to minimize the mess). Gather up the shards and throw them in the garbage. Even though the mirror is not left intact, it's reflective energy persists to keep this Voodoo revenge spell active until it reaches your target.

And here is my take on it that should help make it safer to cast and more effective in the long run:

Ill Will’s Reflection

Use the reflective power of a mirror to return bad energy to someone who has ill intent towards you. The results are that the ill will that they intend for you will return to them. You will need:

A small mirror without a frame (try a craft store)

Black paint

Alcohol or Vinegar

A picture of the person or a lock of hair or a couple drops of their blood

a paintbrush

a cloth bath large enough to fit the mirror in

a hammer

Do this spell when ever you feel like it as it is truly the intent that makes it work. Your intent to return their ill will towards them and maybe exact a little revenge as well as long as your intent is very very clear in your mind and touch. 

Start with cleansing the mirror however is appropriate with your practice (personally I would use a wash charged with cleansing energy and burned herbs) but you can use the alcohol or vinegar to cleanse the surface as well. Allow to dry.

Next when the mirror is cleansed and dry place the photo face down to the mirror’s surface(you can write the full name of the person on the photo’s face if  you like just don’t put it over the face of the person and make sure that nobody else is in the picture) If you are using hair just place it on the surface and if you are using blood pour it on the surface and allow it to dry.

Now take the paintbrush and apply the black paint to completely cover the surface of the mirror and the back of the photograph so that the mirror only reflects on the picture(or hair or blood) of the intended. (Focus in your mind the intent of their ill will coming back to them as you paint. You can also chant a few words that focus your will if it helps you) Allow the paint to dry.

Place the mirror in the bag and close up (you want this sealed so that none of the mirror stays with you or in your home). Then smash the mirror with the hammer or other heavy object. Be careful not to rip the bag and keep your focus on your intent in your mind as you hit it (it doesn’t need to be destroyed just broken)

Now take this bag and bury it as close to the person as you can. On the land their house is on or even the land their family is on as long as they are connected to the place. If you can’t bury it near them then hide it in a shoebox or something in their house or home or if its’ small enough in a dresser or something (not in the drawer). If you can’t do that them bury it at a crossroad near their home (one where the road reaches to where they live). You do not want this bag near you or on your land as you don’t want it tied to you in any way. 

This should ensure that their ill will towards you is reflected back to them and you can revel in your revenge as they cause their own bad fortune.

Spell to Ward Your Person from Harm

I saw a version of this spell, that was very lacking. It literally said to just add crushed peppers and broken glass shards to a container, and then bury them on your property. The problem, the intent isn’t super clear, and the ingredients are a bit of a mixed signal. The concept is good though. It got me thinking. So here’s what I would do for a protective spell pouch.

You’ll need a small pouch to keep your spell in. A box or jar would also work. 

A hot chili pepper, preferably whole

An iron nail

Soil from your own home

A lock of your hair 

If you’re making the spell for someone else, then you need soil from their home, and something of theirs to use for the focus. A photograph would work if you don’t have access to something like a few strands of hair.

You need to have a clear, quiet area to focus from start to finish. Try to set everything out in a way that makes sense to you, for how you’re going to use it. Charge every item as you added it to your spell pouch. 

Hot peppers. Peppers are for warding things away, averting them from you. You can use peppers in cursing and attack spells, but they are also extremely useful in warding and cleansing. Focus on the warmth of the pepper being soothing for you, and painful for those who would do you harm. If you’re visual, then picture this. If you’re tactile, then maybe handle the pepper, feel how it warms your hands after a while, internalize that the pepper is not meant to burn you, but will scar your enemies.

An iron nail. This should not be rusted if possible. Iron is strong, unyielding. It is used for both building and destroying. The iron nail is your sword. It is your shield. The cold metal keeps you safe and damages those foolish enough to try your defenses. It also has the added benefit of warding off some spirits and fae. 

Soil from your home. Your home is your safe place, your castle, your base of operations. It’s where you gather your energy. The soil ties the spell to your home, so it can continue to feed from the energy of your house.

A lock of hair. This ties the spell directly to you. It focuses the spell so that it will serve to protect you. Without this, it’s a very general spell that can serve to protect an area. With a lock or few strands of your hair though, it focuses the spell in on protecting you from harm.

Focus on what each item brings to the spell as you add it to the bag. When you’re finished, close up the bag. Seal the spell now. One of the easiest ways to do this is to sew up the bag. If you’re using a jar or box, you can seal it with wax or clay. You can also seal it by tying a knot in the bag strings, or something similar. This indicates the spell is finished working, and severed from your active energy. This “finishes” the spell, and allows it to start working without drawing on you for power. Now store the spell somewhere safe.
