I know I promised this weeks ago but here it is. The recipe for my protection pouches.
Left to right, top to bottom: lavender, Mediterranean sage, whole cloves, cinnamon sticks, parsley leaves, star anise, basil leaves, rose quartz, bay leaves, crushed red pepper, rosemary, and Mediterranean Sea Salt.
Thought I’d show some spell pouches I’ve made in the past. I crocheted, sewed and embroidered them myself (as you can probably tell since they have that “handmade imperfectness” to them).
From left to right, in the top picture there’s one for general love (the first pouch I made), a pouch for sleep, another small pouch for sleep (with a lava stone and labradorite bead charm attached) and the final big one is for growth and prosperity.
Protection Pouch
As we all know, it's very important to use multiple methods of warding when practicing our craft. I decided to make this pouch as a permanent fixture for my altar to keep my space protected at all times.
For this spell you will need:
Salt (any salt will do; I used Black Salt)
Basil
Clear Quartz
Obsidian
Sunstone
Reptile shedding (I was lucky enough to receive a beautifully intact shedding from my partner's pet Corn Snake)
A pouch
As always, be sure to cleanse the area, the items to be used, and yourself! Before filling my pouch, I inscribed it with my own protection sigil. This is optional, but I find making sigils quite fun! Give it a go! And if you'd rather not, you can always use mine!
As you fill your pouch, chant the phrase:
"My energy is protected."
Made some heat activated spell pouches today for friends and family all different intents and scents😍
Simple Clam Shell Protection Pouch
I finished my protection pouch today and wanted to share it. It's easy and great for beginner and baby witches.
What you'll need:
- 2 dried bay leaves
- Tiger's eye (I used 8 small round tiger's eye beads)
- Sea salt
- Charcoal (I used willow artist's charcoal)
- Two halves of a small clam or mussel
- A plain cotton pouch (or pouch in your choice of color)
As always, be sure to cleanse your items and protect yourself as usual before casting the spell.
First, you will need to create black salt. I did this by cleansing sea salt and a stick of artist's charcoal in the moonlight overnight, then rubbing the charcoal into the salt until all of the salt was a nice dark gray.
As you cast your spell, put the ingredients in the pouch and imagine the safety of being inside a clam shell.
Say, "As the clam protects itself, so I am protected from malevolent forces." You may repeat this as many times as you feel necessary. Close the pouch the final time you repeat the spell.
Keep the pouch wherever you feel is best.
Made a Healing, Peace, & Spiritual Protection spell bag to hang over my altar last night! Honestly so proud of how far I've come in all my years of craft, now every little thing I make is so in depth and full of energy. I'm genuinely so happy with my power💕🌕. Remember always that you are strong lovelies! Life is a constant battle for growth🌱!
Before starting to make the bag I deeply cleansed everything and let a dragons blood incense fully engulf the bag for about 5 minutes.
The ingredients in the bag are: juniper berries, yarrow, star anise, a cinnamon stick, crystal bits of: magnesite, bamboo coral, garnet, and tiger's eye, a sandalwood chunk, a 4 leaf clover, a dandelion, a lilly, a violet, fleabane daisy, some little purple wildflowers (I forgot what these were so dried up lmao), pink salt chunks, and some of Oni's fur (my beloved dog, son, and familiar) {animals offer insane spiritual protection properties especially when they are your pet or familiar even moreso}.
The bag was then blessed with snow water and 2 drops of cedarwood oil. Then very last I tied the golden owl charm (which was my late mother's){owls are a very strong symbol for protection and peace as well}.
I engraved the silver candle with the Elhaz rune as well as the words: HEAL, PROTECT, PEACE, and SPIRIT. (I only follow the practice where the candle must burn all the way out on it's own to properly seal the energy and spell itself)
Blessed be lovelies💕🌸🌕
Hi!! So i've been getting into witchcraft for about a month now and i can't get into the meditation and mental stuff. i like having tools and items to do my spells in. what would you recommend to be my first spell with stuff? thanks!
I totally understand! I really enjoy using tools and I’m more into “external” witchcraft rather than the “internal” mental stuff, because I find it hard to distinguish what’s real and what my mind is just making up for the sake of having an answer.
I think spell jars are perfect for this type of witchcraft, they’re a visual representation of a spell and they’re really easy to come up with yourself and to find online, they’re relatively cheap too. I usually put herbs and dirt, maybe a liquid too like perfume or oil, or a special water, sometimes I write my intent on a paper and roll it up like a scroll to place in there or a sigil. Then I seal it with a corresponding coloured candle wax, and they look really pretty which I love haha
Also spell pouches/bags, similar to spell jars, but easier to carry around in my bag or pocket. I usually put crystals in them, maybe a special charm from a necklace, or if you’re into runes you can put a rune in there, even an elemental symbol, sigils or intents written on paper. I usually never put herbs in these because they can break down easier which can be a little annoying and messy.
