Somnomnom disguise themselves as ordinary pillows, and then sit themselves in innocuous places, where they wait for people to stumble across them. After drawing in and lulling to sleep a target with their incredible comfiness, Somnomnom will induce sweet dreams in its target, which it then derives nutrition from.
Those who sleep atop Somnovereign's back will awaken feeling perfectly refreshed, and in the peak of health. However, this pokémon is so comfortable, that those who sleep atop it often find themselves slumbering for decades on end. It isn't unheard of to see this pokémon wander about with as many as eight sleepers perched atop its back all at once.
Based these guys off of bedbugs, pillows and king-sized beds!
Commission I did for TheChainedWolf of his eeveelutions Ghouleon, Daemeon and Holeon.
Ground type, Ghost type and Flying type, respectively. Eevee evolves into Ghouleon when it faints and levels up in the same battle, and either Daemeon or Holeon will take up an empty spot in your party, depending on whether this happens during the day or at night.
Complete information on them is as follows:

Sentyke possess soft, squishy bodies, so they operate in teams of five to offset any individual weaknesses. Finding a lone Sentyke is an exceedingly rare occurrence, and is usually a sign that something is wrong.
All of Gataitan's limbs possess a certain degree of sentience. When all five of its minds work in unison, this Pokémon is capable of raining down blows powerful enough to pierce iron. Gataitan draws strength from feelings of courage and friendship, and when in the possession of a trainer who feels those emotions particularly strongly, the V on its chest will glow brightly.
Sentyke and Gataitan's abilities are Moxie and Aftermath, and their hidden ability is Friend Guard.
So what with the recent Deinocheirus fossil discovery, (A dinosaur previously only known from an enormous pair of arms,) I decided to do the sensible thing and make a pokémon.
I decided to name these guys Carpalethe and Kirorpse. They’re Rock/Ghost type, and are revived from the Forearm Fossil.
Carpalethe -> Kirorpse (Revived from the Forearm Fossil)
Rock/Ghost Type
I've had this idea floating around in my head for months now, and with the recent discovery of a more complete Deinocheirus skeleton, it seemed as like as good a time as any to finally draw them out.
When Carpalethe's large fossilized armbone was first discovered it was initially thought to be the remains of a massive reptilian Pokémon, possibly a dragon type. However, with the advancement of Pokémon revival technology it was surprisingly discovered that the arms were just about the only physical structure that they have at all.
Revived Kirorpses seem to gravitate toward fossil dig-sites, though it is presently unknown exactly how they are able to locate their fallen brethren without any prior knowledge of the area. It is speculated that they serve as guardians, protecting the spirits of Pokémon who had previously died in mass extinction events.
Their ability is Tough Claws, and their hidden ability is Cursed Body.
Here are hi-res versions of Chris's ant and grasshopper legendary Pokémon. I had a lot of fun working on these, so I figure it would be neat to see them up close. Their working names are Myrmindure and Cicantor.
Their types are Bug/Rock and Bug/Fairy respectively.
The rest of the information about these guys can be found here.
The initial concepts behind them can be found here.
So apparently Adam of Bolt-Beam fame was sufficiently inspired by my recent broad descriptions of a pair of legendary Bug Pokémon based on Aesop’s fable of the ant and the grasshopper that he went and drew these delightful things!
The industrious legendary ant Pokémon who taught humans farming, co-operation, construction, and most of all the simple virtue of good, honest labour. She didn’t come out looking all that much like an ant, in the end, but I’m okay with this - and you can still see the inspiration in a number of places, like the six legs, the clear head/thorax/abdomen distinction, and the mandible-like protrusions on the head. I think what I like most is the simultaneously ‘rocky’ and ‘muscly’ appearance of her features. My head is calling this Pokémon ‘Myrmindure,’ from the Greek word μύρμηξ (myrmex), ant, and the English word endure, though I’m not sure I’m entirely happy with that. She’s probably Bug/Rock, like if Shuckle learned to drive a bulldozer.
This one is the refined legendary grasshopper Pokémon who, like Meloetta, was once a great teacher of song and dance, along with all other forms of art and culture - essentially, his sphere is the love of all things beautiful. I’ve got to say, I love the harp design built into his wings, and the rather frail, wispy appearance he has next to his counterpart. The curls remind me almost of scrips of paper. I don’t think I’m 100% sold on that moustache, but it’s not too egregious. Adam drew this one with Bug/Fairy in mind, and although I haven’t yet formed any opinion on what exactly ‘Fairy’ means as a type, I’m happy to go with that. His name, at the moment anyway, is Cicantor, from cicada (ancient taxonomy is notoriously vague, so the exact species of the insect in the fable is open to interpretation) and the Latin word cantor, singer.
So! I’m finally going to be opening up for commissions! Exciting! I draw stuff such as characters, animals, portraits, monsters, robots, dinosaurs, assorted fan art, so on and so forth.
Pricing is as follows:
Pencil Sketch - $10
Black & White / Lineart - $20
Colored & Shaded - $25
Colored & With a Background - $35
For an additional character, add half of the drawing’s full price.
You can send requests either to my inbox, or email me at [email protected]. Payments are via paypal. If you’re not sure about anything or have any questions, feel free to ask.
Even if you can’t commission anything, I’d super appreciate it if you could spread this around. It would mean a lot to me. I may even throw in a little something special for one random reblogger.
Thought I would try drawing one of them newfangle Mega Pokémon.
Upon exposure to a rare chemical known as Diatomite, Diatomik will mega-evolve, restructuring its body into a series of icy prisms, and granting it two additional radiant cores. With a ring of four eyes surrounding its body, and a mouth at each end, each capable of firing immense blasts of heat and light, Mega Diatomik is thoroughly protected on all sides, thereby eliminating its prior state's greatest weakness.
Now that you've gone through the list twice, what do you think was the hardest type combination to come up with a Pokemon for(including the Eevees)? What is your favourite Pokemon you've designed, or the one you think is best at what it's trying to do?
Adam: Oo, that is a good question, let’s see… The hardest to come up with was probably my Normal/Ground line, Contrict and Gordienne. The ground type has always been sort of awkwardly defined, (It clearly doesn’t just refer to subterranean Pokémon, so exactly what it is that unifies the type is hard to say,) and on top of that, it can likewise be hard to define exactly what it is that differentiates a part normal type Pokémon from a single type Pokémon without the normal.
It’s been a while since I was last asked this question, but i think my overall favorite is still Sniksnak, Jitterwock and Vorprowl, my Bug/Psychic line. I think this was when I really started to hit my stride with the art over here, plus I still have a thing for big, glowy eyespots.
As for your last question, I am going to go with my Bug/Normal line, Wolpeller, Mantiskor and Kimerantis. Like I said before, Normal is a difficult type to work out as part of a duel type combo, so when I got to what I felt was a fairly unimposing type combination that nobody really cares about, I wanted to defy expectations by coming up with something big and imposing. I’m pretty sure I succeeded?
Wekhter: Ack, hard questions! I think one of the combos I struggled with the longest was Rhodombra, my Psychic/Dark. I think those two types are rather at odds with each other, and Dark is a pretty vague type to begin with, so I struggled a lot trying to come up with any sort of concrete idea. I think it turned out a lot better than some of the Pokémon I had ideas for immediately, though. Sometimes having to really work to think of something works out, I guess!
I think my overall favorite is… possibly Moulteon, my Bug Eeveelution. I know it was a while ago but that was a design that I felt (and still feel) is an elegant solution to combining insect characteristics with a mammal like Eevee. It just feels right to me.
As for my most “successful” I think I might go with Tartevry, my Grass/Fire. I really wanted to capture the feel of some of the cute legendaries that make an appearance each generation, and I do think I succeeded in making Tartevry look cute but still have an air of… “guardian” about him.
How big is that plant guy? I get the feeling he's not groudon/kyogre big, but still pretty big.
Assuming you’re talking about Eleusieant… Er, nope, he really is Groudon/Kyogre big! I designed him to be about 10’ tall so that he’s as big around as an ancient tree. Go figure!
Wowee. We've been doing this for 8 months, with 48 type combinations for a full total of 189 Pokémon. That's a lot. A lot a lot. So here's how it will work now.
Next week we'll take the time to answer any questions in our inbox that we previously haven't gotten to, as well as any others people might have. After that, in the event that I end up drawing any other Fakemon, I'll likely post that up here, however that certainly won't be any sort of regular thing, and I honestly can't say that it will be frequent.
But otherwise, we've been through our list twice now, and it seems time to call it quits. Thanks to everyone who followed and supported us over these past 8 months. It's been a lot of fun drawing stuff for you guys. We've come up with some neat designs, and it's always been great seeing your reactions to them.
