ā love & truth !
( * the wound isĀ nastyĀ when it comes down to it ā prompting the firebender to wonder if she should arrange to have her mountās claws trimmed (was it about that time already?). But if anything there isnāt anything too severe about it, he wasnāt bleeding profusely ā but even with a sharp eye she wouldnāt be able to figure out the extends of damage dealt to her friend. Akina can take an educated guess, however, after all he was stepped on by a twenty foot long beast. ) āNever pegged you for the type to bullshit me.ā ( * the statement is vague if anything, watching him move for a second before she shifts to follow, gesturing the lizard to follow suit and at least get out of the sidewalk ā least he tries to attack another civilian. ) āIt looks bad to me.ā ( * she mumbles, settling down in front of him as her eyes turn back to the wound on his leg, reaching forward to peel back the robes for a clearer look. ) āI can take you to a clinic instead ā on a taxi, if youāre wary of Oro.ā ( * offers a small smile as she shrugs off the knitted scarf around her neck, moving to wrap it around his ankle with care, fingers brushing against bloodied skin lightly. ) āOrā¦if itās me you donāt want to go with.ā ( * her eyes flick up to meet his, blinking slowly )
(it isn't in him to respond with any manner of bite, though the regret of trying to ease the heaviness in the air has him breaking whatever tenuous connection he'd been trying to make, looking again to the resting creature now staring at him, head perched on massive feet. it's this sight that he takes in, instead of the vaguely disappointed--perhaps scornful--look that is aimed his way from his friend. all too easily, his mind fills in the blanks, and his fingers curl again into his robes. though the male nods just the same, summoning up some manner of lightheartedness in another attempt to cut the tension--joking, more than not); "at least it's still there." (the fine hairs on his legs raise in exposure to the cool autumn air. dorje glances over the gash, an eye closing as he gives his ankle an experimental shift--immediately, the pain stops him, refocusing his attention on the swelling, red skin of his foot. it's only the latter of her words that draws his eye away from her movements; the male meets her eyes, lips turned into a soft frown.); "why wouldn't i want to go with you?" (he knows the answer, though it's with hopeful denial that he thinks, it will be brushed away and forgotten once he gives it the chance.)
ā love & truth !
( * needless to say the likes of her was surprised by the sudden change in the mongoose lizardās behavior ā had he been hungry? Threatened? Akina sees no other reason for such an odd way to lash out. But if anything her line of focus shifts completely to the unfortunate victim of the lashing out of her pet ā frowning the moment her eyes settle on grey hues. ) āOrochi.ā ( * her voice is sharp, if anything, moving to tug on the reins and pull the massive reptilian back, slipping off the mount once he steps back with a hiss as she flashes him a look, brows furrowing slightly as another order escapes ā sharp and commanding. ) āStay.ā ( * her attention soon turns to the airbender before them, eyes softening considerably as she steps closer, manicured nails carding through long dark locks ā all thoughts of their earlier encounter (which admittedly Akina had spent longer sulking over than sheād ever like to say) at the pool thrown aside in favor of focusing on the bigger issue, namely the wound on his ankle. ) āGod ā I donāt know what got into him,ā ( * she starts, eyes honing in on the bleeding wound as she shifts to lower herself and examine the wound, lifting up torn robes to frown at ripped skin. ) āyou should sit down, jeāā ( * her eyes flick over to the resting beast. ) āhe wonāt bite, I promise.ā
(he watches in complete--or as complete as deep, calming breaths will allow--silence, as the beast is promptly placed under his owners control with little more than a couple words. the sight is relieving, though dorje doesn't focus too deeply on anything but the next inhale; the next exhale after that. by time his old friend turns to face him, he is on his sixteenth cycle and instinctively pulling his wounded foot beneath the shelter of torn fabric. he'd have to mend it again; or perhaps it was time to acquire a new set altogether.); "... a--" (unaware of what he'd been intending to say, he quiets at her words, caught off guard by the kneeling young woman--if anything, akina was prideful--and the answering mixture of wonder and guilt that strikes him fully. he'd been angry with her, he supposes. though even that strange thought falls to the wayside as she examines his wound.); "it isn't anything too bad, i can fly to a clinic..." (yet he moves just the same, taking limping steps backward--something in his foot cracks and he hisses with the pain--to lean against the nearest tree before he slides down to sit, wary eyes landing on the lizard before refocusing on her.); "it isn't too bad."
ā love & truth !
( * she has grown increasingly accustomed to the likes of the Republic City ā Akina appreciates the freedom of being able to roam freely, away from the influence of the man that had took her into his family; she revels in the fact that, since she had arrived, there was no training sessions, no servant to look at her with a sort of fear in their eyes that both disgusts and excites her. As it was, the firebender was taking Orochiāher beloved mongoose lizardāout for a walk in Avatar Korra park. Or whatever it was they named that space ā Akina didnāt particularly care for names if it was of things too irrelevant to her immediate circle of things to pay attention to. ) I hope you know weāre not going again just so you can spend your time eating squirrels ā I refuse to waste another ten minutes of my time dealing with that peevish park caretaker again. ( * the bender scoffs at the hiss offered in return, eyes turning away to something else for a brief few moments until the likes of her petĀ stopsĀ and hisses (almost threateningly) in front of another ā snapping her out of her little daze ) Oro ā what theā¦.
"... uh..." (what--? to say he's surprised--and displeased--by the interruption of his journey is a small understatement; not worth much note beyond the hot, hissing presence he can see coming from his left at first. his hands remain at his sides, curling absently into the fabric of his robes; uncurling before the motion is repeated anew. should he eat first? or bathe? dorje is fully prepared to weave around the creature--undoubtedly someone's pet; he doesn't care to look if they're not speaking--but the clamoring, pounding sound of footsteps charging at him stops him short; the pressure of claws pressing into his foot--one taking a clean slice out of his ankle--takes his breath for a long moment; it's no understatement to say the pain is excruciating, warranting the soft curse that escapes as he attempts to pull it from beneath the foot of the lizard; the very same that seems to stare at him balefully with slitted eyes.); "... remove your foot... please." (he says to it, wincing at the all-too-sharp burn of an open wound, and the crushing pressure on his very bones, finally glancing up at the sound of a familiar, feminine voice. it offers him no assurance, sadly enough; instead of finding relief in her presence, he's only confronted with a vague sense of confusion and an urge to get away--in spite of the pain.)
ā love & truth !
(his fingers play along the edges of his robe, teeth sinking into his lower lip as he contemplates some manner of laundering for the jeans and tees shoved into the bag beneath his head. instead of moving, however, he maintains his place on the soft grass; watching the people make the most of the weekend in the park. near the water, children in swim clothes play, drawing a smile to his lips before he peers up, into the golden-red leaves of the tree over his head); "... i need food." (dorje says to no one in particular, ending with a sigh and again tugging at his clothes--); "i need a bathhhh..." (and with that, he pushes himself to his feet, leaning over to clasp the strap of his bag between his fingers and move!)
ā ringing bells !
(murmurs to himself on the way to his--new--favorite little restaurant, fingers tapping at his sides and a recited menu on his mind. the price of said meal wasn't much, but the lack of change or bill in his pocket leaves him on the lookout, gaze darting from here to fro before it lands on the smaller figure of a woman, making her own way through the dusk); "... maybe?" (he takes his time assessing, reading the value of her coat and boots as though they're words off a scroll--his decision is made then, lips quirking absently as he lifts a finger and flicks her pocket open, guessing it to be the safest place to hide her money); "just a bit..........."
"Playing ball like those br- oh hey Dorje!" Queue the bright smile upon seeing someone familiar. Along with the instant and rather purposeful switch of topic. "Are you busy? If youāre not busy we should do something!" Before she gets bored.
(chooses not to let his confusion show too much, merely blinking at her answering question--or... yeah that was no answer--before smiling, nodding); "no, i'm not busy. what do you want to do? we can fly over the city and see if there's anything fun going on?"
Oh ā I should have thought as much, I just saw you airbending. [`he laughs lightly at himself, fingers being shoved into his own hair to push stray hairs away from his eyes.] Iām still hungry, Dorje [ā he hopes he pronounced it correctly.] Ā lets go find that vender ā¦.
(he smiles rather happily with the suggestion, hands disappearing into his pockets as he takes a step onto the main road, turned toward the direction that the other male had come from); "it was this way, correct?"
"Wow I wish I could try."
"try what?" (blinks a few times, confused if anything)
ā death wish
(` so maybe su lin is something of a disgrace to earthbenders all over the world because even the platypus bears have better balance than she does. sheās just never gotten the hang of, yāknow, grounding herself, and itās not like sheās the best earthbender either so her problems really just go hand in hand. but now theyāre starting to affect her on a daily basis because she canāt walk beside any small body of water without falling over her own feet and dropping something into it. today it was her lunchāwhich would be spoiled because of the water and all but itās the principle that has her fishing it out of the pond in the middle of republic city on a sunny day with many spectators. sheās doing fine, she thinks, because every now and then someone will walk past with their nose in the air and not even notice her there. but then she hears a laugh, and it totally throws her off. her arm dips into the water a little too far, equilibrium thrown off a little too much, and she falls in head first into the water. and the laughter just gets louder. ) son of aā (` she wipes back the strands of her hair, tugs her shirt back into place, and stares daggers at the source. who is some really blonde dude su lin wouldĀ probably find kinda cute if he werenāt cackling at her misfortune. ) you littleā youāre dead! (` she stands up quicker than she has since she was in diapers, the heat of a thousand suns burning in her eyes. target acquired. )
(it's bizarre, he would've have claimed in his defense--had he not been driven to run at the fury in her eyes--before apologizing profusely. perhaps between the occasional muffled snicker, but all the same... dorje has his regrets the moment he's forced to take a step back. all he'd done was come to river for a nice nap) "ah--" (his life flashes before his eyes, one might say; or at the very least, his morning, that piece of toast that he should have finished, the fruit pie that he should have bought, and really his day involves too much food... a slightly unnerved laugh escapes his lips) "hey, i'm really sorry, don't kill me." (at the same time, he prepares to sidestep a punch. oh man--)
Itās not the strangest compliment Iāve ever delivered, unfotunately. [`he quirks a brow and lets him go once heās upright, smile still in place.] Two? intersting. I only have one, I hail from the Northern Water Tribe. You can call me Kassuq, or Kass for short.
(he's almost curious enough to ask, but he files the information away and focuses instead on remembering the more important facts, curling the stolen bill between his index finger and thumb; the scent of food is quickly becoming a distraction); "kassuq?" (taking his time enunciating the syllables, he smiles); "i'm dorje, from republic city and the southern air temple. no nickname, i'm afraid."
I am a man of that and so much more, as are you, [`when he finishes the stick he tosses it away and offers the boy his hand to help him off the ground.] I noticed that already, you donāt seem to be a greedy theif. Are you from this cityĀ ?
(his fingers tap against his skin again, idle before he reaches out to accept the male's offered hand and pull himself to his feet. the movement manages to be graceful, even as he gives a light snort); "that is the strange compliment i've ever been paid." (palms brushing away the dirt at his back, dorje nods); "in some capacity. i have two hometowns. you?"
[` a throaty chuckle gives away his humor, and itās hard for him to stop smiling ( so he doesnāt try. ). ] Iāll take your argument in stride. [`he takes another bite, peeling the meat off small bones with the aid of his practiced teeth.] I wonder what you use as bait, if anything.
(a large part of him is somewhat proud he managed to draw forth a laugh from the male; it represents a victory of sorts, a harmless kind that still makes him just a little happier); "good, you're a man of reason it seems." (smiling, he crosses his arms and taps his fingers against his bicep, head tilting just barely); "most of the time i use nothing. it's more important to pay mind to who can afford to have a little skimmed off the top." (there'd always been a strange morality to his thought-process, even in acts of immorality)
⦠[`he follows the actions with a keen eye, but doesnāt call the boy out on his theivery. It wasnāt his problem.] Youāre too proud to take a free meal, but not enough to take without permission? [`thereās an amused edge to his voice as he takes another bite of his fish, heād never met a pickpocketer before ā at least not that he was aware of.]
(a valid point, in any case. he watches as the man returns, admittedly confused, to pick up his lost article; all the while, the quirk of his lips remains, given as he pushes himself to his feet with a gentle rush of air to his back); "ah, but there is a difference." (tone lightly humored, dorje releases a hum); "one could argue that you're merely offering me the fish, while i am fishing for myself."
I hope not, [`eyes the boyās gaze, following it to his food and taking a final bite before moving close enough to offer him the rest.] Iām full, want the restĀ ? [`heās in fact not full, but Kassuq doesnāt often admit openly to having a soft heart. That sort of thing opened a man up to vulnerability. It was better to keep your guard up and be cautious than to shine out wholesomely and become a doormat.]
(at the offer, his lips curve into a mischievous smile. even as he appreciates the gesture, some measure of pride in him won't let him accept it, even if his pockets are empty); "thanks, but you keep it." (he has his own methods of acquiring food. the minute flick of his finger sends a flicker of a wind; precise and controlled toward the billfold of a passing man. clad in a fine, thick jacket, he assures himself that the male will hardly miss it as it slips from his back pocket and onto the ground. with a pull, it's in his hand, where he fishes out a single bill and tosses it back to the walkway); "i can manage."
[`stops walking as he passes, in his hand is a kabobād fish, deep fried, from one of the venders not to far from the UNE building.] Why are you sitting on the ground? Youāre going to get dirt on your butt.
(blinking first at the salty sweet aroma of fried food, it takes a moment too long to register the words of the male holding the kabob. his brow lifts, a hint of incredulousness evident in his tone); "is the dirt here toxic?" (bright hues focus on the meat, it's been far too many years since he's indulged in such a thing)
