She has a long list of orders to give out once she’s back from the restaurant – it’s so exhausting just planning her day. From trimming the hedges to making sure all her fields are well tended to, the blonde rarely has a moment to herself. Even when she’s at the mansion, she’s ordering her maids around. And it’s better to be like that… occupied, when no vacant thoughts can wander.

❝ … So you’ve been out here in the middle of nowhere, locked away from civilization for four years? ❞ she says as she takes another spoonful of the chocolate fondue.  ❝ That must’ve been terrible. ❞

The chef chuckles at the young woman’s comment. "Of course, of course. If you ever need help, though, I’m always happy to help,” he says, placing a hand on her seat. “We are neighbors, after all.” 

“Locked away from civilization..? Well, that’s certainly a strange way of putting it,” Raeger held his chin. “I do visit the city every once in awhile, and I get customers from many different places. I don’t think not having the latest phone makes me ‘locked away from civilization.’ And it’s not terrible at all, in fact, I’m quite happy with how things are right now.”

As soon as he saw she took the first bite, a polite smile crossed his features. "How is it?"

19. My muse will tell your muse what they think of the new blockbuster movie

“Huh… Last blockbuster movie I saw was, um, 50 Shades of Grey. Lots of people recommended it to me, so I thought ‘Hey, why not?’ But I have to say… it was really disappointing.”

The young man’s hand dragged through his hair as he laughed nervously. “I don’t go to the theatres often since they’re in the city, but hopefully that answer was sufficient.

“Well, if both of you say I shouldn’t watch it, I guess I’ll stay away from it…” Lillian replied, although she was admittedly curious about what was so bad about it. At least she hadn’t wasted any money on a terrible movie. “I don’t want to waste my money. Especially since I rarely go see movies.”

Seeing her potential new friend smile made the brunette’s smile widen considerably, she was always excited to make new friends. He seemed really nice, too. And handsome. Just like Cam. “I know exactly what you mean.” she replied, rubbing the back of her neck sheepishly. “I always seem to run out of time during the day. I do prefer it in the countryside as well, though! It’s peaceful and the air is sweeter… Plus, this way I get to stay close to my brother.” 

Lillian was pleased when he accepted her hand shake, shaking his hand firmly in response. “It’s nice to meet you, too. I’m a farmer, from Konohana. What about you?”

"It’s a good choice, but I won't blame you if you did in the end," he concluded. "It must be tempting... but I'm really saying it for the best."

"Yes, and I like how it's much easier to make friends. Usually people are too busy to even say hello in the city," Raeger said. He never really thought about it before, but while he spoke of the countryside, only now did he realize how much he loved living in it. It made him feel at ease in a strange way. But-- back to reality-- the chef couldn't help but notice how she tended to mention her brother frequently. They must be really close... how nice.

"Chef at a restaurant in Oak Tree Town," he let go of her hand after a few shakes. Raeger knew plenty of farmers just living in Oak Tree Town, but he always felt a little more inclined to respect them more for their hard work. He looked a little more curious than before once Lillian mentioned where she was from. "Konohana? That’s a familiar name... I might be wrong, but I know someone around here that must be at least acquainted of that town. His name is Camer-- Kam... Kamil. Sorry, I never get used to his name... but do you know him?"

“Sure.” It wasn’t that big of a deal as long as it wasn’t one of the older folk of Oak Tree Town. Either way, he wasn’t too happy about bothering anyone, but a dare was a dare.

Oooh, a prank call. Cam paused to think about it, soon a smirk crossed his lips. This was going to be interesting.

“How about Elise?” He said with an almost innocent smile.

"Elise?" Oh goddess, never mind about what he thought earlier, he'd prank call anyone but her. Not for the first time, Raeger wondered if the florist just enjoyed watching the pain of others.

"Okay," he swallowed hard, "I'll go get my phone. Wait-- she probably has me as a contact already. Hmm..." Maybe that would be a good enough excuse to not do the prank in the end?

Lillian gasped, bringing a hand to her mouth as if he’d said a bad word. “You saw that?! My brother said it was too racy for me to see, so I never saw it!” her eyes were wide with wonder. “Was it really that bad? I always wonder why Phillip tells me not to see things.”

Lillian did know what he meant though, she rarely got to see movies now either. Not ones she didn’t own at least. “I know the feeling! It’s such a hassle going into the city. I’ve barely gone at all since I moved. Oh - I’m Lillian, by the way! What’s your name?” 

She beamed at the handsome stranger, holding out a hand to him with a little giggle.

"Er, I have to say that your brother was right," he admitted sheepishly. "All I'm going to say is that I'm glad I watched it alone. But I can promise you that you're not missing out on anything good. I wish I spent my money on something better... Oh well, what's gone is gone."

Raeger smiled at the stranger. He had just met her, but she seemed really nice so far and he could already tell he was going to like her. He nodded. "Yeah... It's a shame, too, since there's so much to do and not enough time. I still prefer the countryside either way, though."

Oh right, introductions. How could he have forgotten? "I'm Raeger. It's nice to meet you, Lillian," the chef said as he gladly shook her hand. "If you don't mind me asking, where are you from?"

“Um…” It wouldn’t be so much of a problem since they were both men, but still. It was a bit too distasteful for the chef to strip himself naked in front of a complete stranger.

“Oh… well, I’m not too keen on rambling about myself, especially my past, but it is a dare so I hope it’s alright.”

Not to mention that it’s embarrassing.

But he doesn’t think she needs to know that.

Raeger is silent as he searches through his memories of past dates wih various women. Which one of them did he really love? And which one was the first to make him feel that way? But if he was completely honest with himself, he knew the answer right away.

“I met her when I was really young, when I was around ten or eleven, but it was when I was sixteen that I really… y'know, fell for her. Er… she was really kind. I remember I’d ignore her some days when I was upset for no valid reason, but she’d still give me that bright smile of hers and hang around. But the thing was that she never felt like she deserved me. I’d tell her that she was amazing to me and better than any girl I met, but she would not believe me and change the subject.” Raeger laughs gravely. “Sorry, that must sound so awful and corny. I was really sappy back then that I’m surprised that no one really thought so, or at least pointed it out. Anyways, then she couldn’t keep visiting Oak Tree Town, I mean she could, but she didn’t want to make the effort anymore. She was tired of keeping a relationship that was going nowhere and hurting her, so she just left. It was hard for her as it was for me. I remember feeling down for months.”

He doesn’t want to end the story on such a sour note, though. “I’m obviously okay now, though. She sent me a letter awhile ago, too, and she moved on and found other things that makes her happy. I was so glad when I read that…” Raeger glanced at his hands, his fingers were strangely tangled together without him even being aware that they were. He lifted his head and smiled. “So, that is that. I hope I didn’t bore you.”
