For him, it turned out there were two types of client. Companies that wanted someone to write and submit their PR articles to the media, and people who wanted an event planner for their business. I often see people wanting marketing help who have confusing and unclear definitions of what they do in networking meetings, and at trade shows. At trade shows, I'll often stand in front of someone's booth and have no idea what they're selling. Often when I approach, even their explanations can sound confusing. Now understand, this type of problem exists for everything from Fortune 500 firms to small and even home based businesses where people do such a poor job explaining what they have or do that the right customers are not attracted or worse, are repelled by the seeming complexity. I was giving marketing help to a lady who was a distributor for health supplements sold through multi-level marketing. Although she’s a multi-level distributor, the example applies to almost everyone.

The 4 marketing decisions are:

Defining WHO your most valuable target customer is;

Giving them something a little extra that motivates them to take ACTION NOW.

For the lady in today’s marketing help video, her marketing income had never really taken off, even though she was finding a few new customers every month. As I started with the 4 decisions, it was right at the first one that the big breakthrough came.

Initially she believed, as many of you on today’s marketing help video, that she knew her ideal customers. She believed her ideal target customer was anyone who wanted good nutrition and more energy, especially athletes. But as I delved deeper, she confided that people making the most money, are able to sign up, not just customers, but distributors wanting to make a living as she was.

As many of you reading today’s marketing help tip know, through the multi-level program, she gets paid a percentage of all sales. If a distributor has customers, she also makes money off all those sales as well.

Once she realized she wasn’t spending enough time going after the right type of customer, I got her to design a marketing campaign to attract just these ideal people. And suddenly, her ability to make a lot more money became much easier.
