I curve around you as we knit together – I wonder if you’d mind so much if I lay my cheek against the rounded flat of your left shoulder
the nerves in my stomach gather in the centre and climb up the step-ladder of my spine, sparking the sensitive parts of my tongue as I gather up the courage to ask
but this is a photograph, and I as I look at it now, I wonder
at the stillness in your body, and the forward slump of your neck the reflexive thrust of your right shoulder and the momentum towards your left
here I am rounded, and cup, and trembling embrace
and you
are set
to run.
