hey bro ik this is a hot take but like maybe just let endos live?? i don’t believe in endo systems for the records, but i don’t see the harm in them saying they exist. like if an ableist sees an endo system and then thinks that means all systems are faking, that’s the ableists fault not the endo “systems”. also, the whole point of did is to protect u from ur trauma, so most endo systems probably just have trauma they don’t know about coz they haven’t had access to therapy or whatever to unpack their trauma. i don’t see the point in attacking people inside the community, it seems so counter-productive. anyway, thoughts?

DD's and Trauma disorders were placed close to each other to mark a correlation in the DSM.

DID/OSDD/etc are not "people in your brain disorders." they are DISSOCIATIVE DISORDERS, and are labeled as such for a reason - they're marked not by just alters, but by time loss, memory gaps, amnesia, etc. if they were just "people in your brain disorders" it would've stayed as MPD.

This. As someone who has been formally diagnosed with OSDD, complex ptsd stemming from (tw/cw) csa, child ab*se, sa and r*pe in our adult life, I find it fucking offensive for people to claim to be endos. As if it were something that they could choose to be or have happen randomly to someone. No. NO. That’s not how the brain works. It is literally in every bit of respected and verified critical sources of information about did/osdd INCLUDING THE GODDAMN DSM. It is explicitly stated that the disorder occurs due to PROLONGED AB*SE AND TRAUMA TYPICALLY STARTING IN CHILDHOOD.

And yes, trauma is different for everyone, what is sever for one person may not be for another. This isn’t about live and let live, and “oh they aren’t hurting anyone” because yes. Yes they are. By claiming to be a system without any sort of trauma, by asserting that someone could become a plural or a system without any sort of disorder or trauma adds to the difficulty that many people who are disordered systems struggle with to be recognized. There’s already such a huge stigma surrounding this community and those who suffer from DID and OSDD, so many dismiss us or say we don’t exist. And we have fought so long and so hard for people to recognize us and it’s only very recently that the mental health community has even begun to recognize coconsciousness and not forcing a fusion of our parts and alters as an end goal for therapy.

So for people to come in and just claim that they have a system and that it was formed without meeting any of the criteria from recognized and respected and verified scientific and medical sources, makes it that much harder for those with systems to be recognized respected and taken seriously. It makes it harder for us to be diagnosed it makes it harder for us to get treatment it makes it harder for us to shake the stigma that surrounds this this disorder.

So no I can’t just let them think they have some thing or let them do whatever they want because when they do they are hurting me. They are hurting others of us who come from horrific backgrounds. And it minimizes, invalidates, and works against those of us Who are disordered systems. Because whether or not I get canceled for this at this point I don’t care, but not all spaces are for absolutely everyone. I would not think my self entitled to go into a space for cancer survivors because I have not survived cancer.

I would not except myself to be allowed to go into spaces that are specifically for somebody who is gone some through something that I could never even begin to imagine. And that’s not unfair, I don’t consider it unfair that I am not allowed to go into a space that is for cancer survivors. It’s not unfair to me to not be allowed into a space for cancer survivors because again, I. Have. Not. Experienced. Cancer. So why would I feel the need or the right to insert myself into a space that is specifically for them to support them to help them? It’s not about me. It’s about them and that’s their space. And that’s OK. It’s OK for people to have spaces specially for something that they have gone through are going through currently, or have struggled with. Someone else having a space just for that does not take away from me or my own spaces in anyway.

If Endos want to make their own community for other people who feel that they’re an Endo or want to be an Endo. fine. Ultimately there’s very little I or anyone else can do except try to state our own position and try to provide educational resources. But they need to create their own space use their own terminology that works for their specific situation, and they need to not claim that they Should be allowed into spaces that are for disordered systems or use disorder systems terminologies. Because that’s not their space. DID and OSDD are vastly different from “Endos” and their narratives.

If you support endos then feel free to block. But as a disordered system I very politely ask you to not DNI and will take this opportunity to let you know I have absolutely no desire to debate this with anyone. So. Once again, and I feel that Endos are offensive and inappropriate, and have no desire to interact with them or supporters of them. Thanks.

There are multiple ways to heal with DID. And yes, that includes both final fusion and functional multiplicity.

Fusion is not m/rdering [u] alters, it’s coming together as one to heal, and the thought of that is badass. Ya’ll are overcoming trauma and coming together to help yourselves, and that’s so cool of you. You deserve that!

At the same time, Functional Multiplicity is not anti-recovery or “an Endogenic excuse to continue roleplaying” (yes I’ve actually seen someone say that). It’s lowering amnesia and communication barriers to work TOGETHER with your other alters to overcome trauma and deal with everyday life. That’s amazing too!

Everyone’s healing journeys are different, and that’s totally valid! Some systems don’t have the option either. I’ve seen systems whose therapists and other professionals they work with say that final fusion would be contradictory to their healing and would cause more damage mentally and physically. On the other hand, I’ve seen systems who cannot work towards functional multiplicity because of the same reason.

You’re valid no matter what your healing path is. Every system is different and that’s ok. We are diverse people and it sucks that we hound at each other for our different ways of healing from trauma. To anyone who has been criticised because of the path they’re taking towards healing, I’m so sorry. You are so valid and deserve the world. /gen /p

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:

The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!

So if anyone’s wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:

And I wanna stress that when i say “top of the leg” i’m not talking about the crotch (please don’t flag me tumblr it’s an anatomical term) i’m talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:

So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:

But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!
