whumpee who’s in too much pain to stay conscious, my beloved

I love it when characters are trying their best to stay awake. Maybe their friends are nearby and they can’t make them worry. Cause if they pass out, they know their friends are gonna worry. Oh god, they don’t want them to worry. But fuck, everything hurts. Does it hurt? They can’t feel their legs. They can’t feel anything. They’re so tired. They gotta stay awake though, and lqqfnGKSIXKWOZJEKWDJKDSXZQP AGH—

A noble whumpee, after having been held captive and tortured by whumper and then saved, recovers and faces whumper in a fair fight. Whumpee defeats them with no difficulty. Whumper is lying on the ground, whumpee stepping on their chest holding their weapon to whumper’s throat. They have to kill whumper for the cause, not out of revenge. But they can’t bring themselves to do it, because they don’t believe it right to kill another human being. They are not afraid, they do not pity whumper — they simply don’t have so much bitterness inside them as to go against all their beliefs. They hesitate, putting themselves in great danger.

And that’s when caretaker suddenly steps in to make that final blow. And they don’t do it for the cause, no, they don’t care about the cause. They do it out of pure revenge for everything that whumpee has suffered.

Give me a whumpee so fierce, that when he locks eyes with the whumper and begins to slowly pull—whumper steps back, fearing irrationally that the restraints will fail.

fun fact: the collarbone is designed to be broken. it absorbs impact when you fall so the force doesnt go straight from your shoulder into your spine and paralyze you when you catch yourself. It's thinnest in the middle and can heal and break many times over with minimum ill effect on the body.

Validating pain is the point of whump.

Having the invisible observer hold witness to pain is the point.

Proving the pain happened, that it was real, that it was hard, that happened is the point.

thinking about a whumpee on a forced march through rough terrain

hands tied in front of them, on foot while their captors are mounted, sleeping out in the open, forced to beg for adequate food and water

maybe they're barefoot, a captured royal in silken robes

maybe they're in a torn suit or soldier's uniform

maybe they were stripped at the start, increasing the exposure to the elements, the humiliation

are they a terrified mess from the beginning, or do they try to endure with dignity? how long before they're stumbling, barely putting one foot in front of the other? how long before they fall?

Medic/doctor/nurse Caretaker gently checking Whumpee’s pulse, two fingers against his neck, only for that to instantly throw him into a panic attack because he’s expecting that gentle hand to suddenly wrap around his throat and squeeze.

im a fucking sucker for the “character gets so badly injured that they can’t think clearly and start calling for help in a distressingly vulnerable way.” characters who start using nicknames for their friends they haven’t used since they were kids. characters who start begging for their brother they haven’t seen in years to be there. characters who would usually use their parents’ names or call them mother/father/etc crying out mama when they go down. u understand.

Classic Prompts.

-> Collapsing only after they’re finally safe.

-> Dragging themselves to the door... and not making it.

-> Whumpee insisting on finishing the job/mission while actively bleeding.

-> Passing out mid-sentence.

-> Injuries that clearly should’ve been treated hours, even DAYS ago.

-> Feverish delirium where they accidentally tell the truth.

-> Waking up restrained and instantly panicking, — rich with heavy breathing, struggle and darting eyes.

-> Trying to fix their own wound and failing.

-> “I'm okay—” immediately followed by collapse

-> Pain meds wearing off at the worst possible moment

-> Whumpee apologizing for being a burden.

-> Whumpee meeting eyes with Whumper in public. No one understands why the intensity exists... The two of them do.

-> Head down, blood pooling where they’re kneeling.

-> Crawling instead of walking because standing is impossible.

-> Hiding an injury so well it fools everyone… until it doesn’t.

-> Being stitched up without anesthetic

A character is mounted on a horse and able to stay astride but growing steadily weaker as they travel so they slump further and further forward in the saddle until they're practically lying prone along the horse's neck, the jolting of each step bringing them nearer to falling from the saddle, hands no longer controlling the reins but fingers twisted into the mane in a tenuous grip and legs barely able to grip their seat.

A character held up with one arm draped over another's shoulders but otherwise totally unable to support themself so that their lolling head is leaning against their supporting companion's collarbone and their face is pressed into the side of their neck.

I love when a character is competent and respected in their own right but also everyone knows that they’re basically someone else’s collared pet, and that someone else is even worse than they are
