Travel Tuesday – 5 Reasons to be Excited About the Future
It is now April of 2020, and we are all waiting for quarantine to just. Be. Over. With people posting all of their old travelling shots all over instagram, it makes us miss the now foreign outdoors even more! We cannot control what our current situation looks like but what we can change is how we look at our lives at the moment. While it seems bleak and dull at the moment, this is the best time to actually plan ahead.
Here are 10 Reasons why you should be looking forward to the future, and invest in it, rather than think about the situation we are in right now.
You actually have time to plan a whole trip. Often times, it feels like we book time off of work or look forward to the term breaks only for the time to suddenly arrive and we have not actually made any plans. Finally, there is enough time in the day to take notes – pick a country, decide on the city, and once you’ve chosen how long you’re going to stay there for, also look at sights and other possibilities of exploring the location you’re planning on visiting. Sometimes it can feel like we come back home and we’ve barely seen anything of the country we’ve been to. If you have free time, make use of it and plan ahead.
You have time to work on your beach body. Whether it’s an office job, university/school or retail, by the time we finally get home, we often feel too tired to get any exercise done. Some of us may not be working at all right now, while others work from home. While working from home is still exhausting, it may be more flexible and you’re also saving time on getting to and from work, which you can invest in a healthy body. It may still be difficult to find motivation but if you have a goal in mind, you can work towards it. Once you get into routine, you will feel so much healthier and also prouder when looking at the mirror.
You’re probably able to save more money now. Now this may not apply to everyone, but a lot of people are working from home or not working at all while being furloughed. Furthermore, hopefully most people struggling with mortgages have received a bit of leniency or support, which means money can be saved or spent on other things. If you are a travel enthusiast like me and you want something to look forward to, put your money aside and save for a holiday. Maybe you’ve been wanting to go to Japan, or do a road trip through the states, or hitchhike through the capitals of Europe and have never been able to afford it before! If you have the means, saving for a holiday now will definitely give you something to look forward to.
You can sort out your wardrobe. If you still haven’t heard of Marie Kondo, I really recommend looking her up on Netflix right now. The quarantine is also a good opportunity for many people to finally sort out their closets (and maybe other rooms of the house). Once you know where you want to go, and at what time of the year, and everything else has been sorted out, you can go through your wardrobe and think about which clothes don’t give you that spark of joy anymore. Someone else who’s struggling will be really grateful for your donations at times like these!
Think of the kind of reunion a holiday with your friends would be! Last but not least, most of us have probably not seen our friends in weeks – unless you’re one of the lucky ones spending quarantine with your roommates who are also your best friends! Of course you could plan having brunch together, or even a sleepover, but how amazing would it be to finally get all your friends together to go on holiday together?
Of course there are many more reasons why we could feel grateful and excited about the future, but writing down these five reasons has uplifted me personally. If you have anymore ideas, feel free to share!
Sweetener is the fourth studio album by Italian-American pop princess Ariana Grande, and while each new track offers a different experience to the listener, the album still feels connected across its fifteen tracks.
The first introduction that was given to the public was the lead single, “No Tears Left to Cry”; expected to be a quiet ballad, the piece surprises as an up-beat song in remembrance of the Manchester attack at Grande’s concert last year in May. This positivity that Grande tries to spread through this song follows through the rest of the album as well.
While the various tracks differ greatly from each other in composition, instrumentals and vocals, the message is always the same: be positive and look ahead. Prime examples are the more hip-hop inclined track featuring Nicki Minaj, “The Light is Coming” and “Get Well Soon,” the latter also paying tribute to the victims who lost their lives at the Manchester attack by having added forty seconds of silence to the track. However, Grande does not lose her roots and songs like “Raindrops,” “Goodnight N Go” and “Pete Davidson” (named after the singer’s fiancé) remind the listener to the sweet and innocent love songs that marked her debut album “Yours Truly.”
With her fourth studio album, Grande has shown that she is able to evolve musically while simultaneously staying true to her origins.
