One of the biggest things we Christian struggle with is believing God's word and esteeming it as ultimate truth. We often find ourselves seeking answers from "spiritual leaders", such as pastors, deacons, and advisors. Remember that NO MATTER what anyone tells you, take it back to God. As much as God has placed people on this Earth to preach the gospel, it doesn't mean that God is to be replaced by them.

He is the way to everything you need in this life. Do you need to know the way out of debt? Do you need to know the way to having better relationships…the way to overcome an addiction…to live in peace and joy? When you know Jesus, you know the Way!

I’m scared. I am. Surrender is hard. Worry is always trying to overwhelm me. It’s a fight. Daily it is a fight. The pain I’ve caused, I’m begging God to restore and heal and forgive. But I’m scared.

I wonder if Abraham was scared when God asked him to sacrifice his son.

I wonder is David was scared when he faced Goliath.

I wonder is Noah was scared when it started raining.

I wonder if Paul was scared when they imprisoned him over and over again.

Maybe they were. But they didn’t let that stop them. Giant, flood, torture, losing his only son; they did not let fear stop them. So I won’t either.

They had faith. They obeyed. And they fought. So that’s what I’m doing and that’s what I’ll keep doing.

If you’re scared too, are facing your past of giant mistakes, worry is trying to sweep you away, being tortured by pain, or having to sacrifice someone you love; take heart, you are not alone. God is with us, the same God of Abraham, Noah, David, and Paul. And in the midst of torture and loneliness Paul wrote, “God did not give us a spirit of fear and timidity, but a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline.” (2 Tim. 1:7)

A writer for the new york times interviewed a series of people who had survived jumping off the golden gate bridge. Every person she interviewed admitted that about two thirds of the way down, they realized that every seemingly meaningless problem that caused them to jump was fixable.
