GOTH WESTERN books are for sale online again!
Let's try this again!!! I have once again created my own webshop but, crucially, this time it works and I have tested it! There you can purchase print copies of GOTH WESTERN if such a thing strikes your fancy. These are lovely books, with a satiny cover and matte pages. You can also get the comic in eBook form, which includes the same bonus story as the print edition.
The shop also has the leftover prints and stickers from the GOTH WESTERN crowdfund, a few book/print/sticker combo packs, and my legfish enamel pins. Do check it out!
I've updated this post because I remade the entire shop to be Functional Now! I did extensive tests and told the shop software it can use up to half my server's entire RAM so that it doesn't take 5 minutes to make a purchase!
I'm also running a Pride Month / Grand (Re)Opening Sale! Everything in the entire shop is 25% off through the end of June! Let me know if the banner is bright enough!
Anyone remember this piece of mine from 2014, of an alluring and mysterious lady of the sea? Well now that I'm getting into digital painting, I had to revisit her.
Done in Rebelle 5 over the course of just under a week.

Scabiosa - Unfortunate Love White Catchfly - Betrayed, I Fall Into the Trap Laid for Me Black Poplar - Courage
Redid the companion piece to this flower portrait-- Rynne, the boy who can't die. (Also from my perpetually unfinished urban fantasy novel, Toothy.) He just got out of a bad relationship, and he's been traveling with a magician's troupe and pretending to get sawed in half about it.
I think I'm really getting the hang of painting in Rebelle 5, even if I picked more difficult flowers for this one. I'm very pleased with how this turned out! You can compare it to the original from 2017 here!
GOTH WESTERN books are for sale online again!
I've made my own webshop, powered by OpenCart, where you can buy print copies of GOTH WESTERN if such a thing strikes your fancy! These are lovely books, with a satiny cover and matte pages. You can also get the comic in eBook form, which includes the same bonus story as the print edition.
I think I've gotten the shop set up right, but as of this writing it hasn't been tested yet, so please bear with me! I will update this post after a successful order has gone through, so click through to the original if you see a reblog!

I forgot about hourly comics
I'm back home where my computer (with drawing tablet) is so the quality of these has risen precipitously.
Not pictured: Nik and I vying for control of the iron and sewing scissors.
Random encounter.
All done
This year's hourlies for this blog!
Commission for @delphina2k of Sydney and Brenna from her webcomic, Sombulus! Thanks again!
The Hiveworks Artist Guild Statement on Hiveworks Comics (& my own experiences below)
Making comics better for everyone!
Hey there friends and readers, I thought it was important to share this open letter from the Hiveworks Artist Guild regarding both the state of Hiveworks and the treatment of creators throughout its history. If you've looked for my comic on the Hiveworks site or my book in the Hivemill store and found it missing, this is a good overview of why I left. (Never fear, it's still at its usual home of gothwestern.com.)
I'm putting more details on my own experience below, covering how the process of getting GOTH WESTERN to print took longer than the entire run of the comic. It's under a readmore because it's fairly long. Even if you skip it, I encourage you to read the open letter linked above. Other former Hiveworks creators are also sharing their experiences on various platforms, so please give them your support. It's been a heck of a ride getting here.
Solidifying the character design for this guy, for a comic I've been brainstorming. He's described in my notes as "a jaded splinter of a man," and he meets the rest of the cast when he stows away with their caravan to escape some trouble he's gotten into. I'm quite pleased to have finally gotten his face right here.
Hey there, it's me your pal Livali from internet. Last year I got me a cushy (read: not gig delivery work) job doing data entry for my local university. This was great, but now the work is tapering off for the season as they run out of data for me to entry. I'll do anything not to go back to gig delivery work! Which is where you come in! I'd love to draw some nice pictures for you at a reasonable price!
Here's some of my favorite commissions from last year:
You can find a detailed breakdown of my price tiers, a bunch of samples, and info on how to get in touch here at my website!
Thank you! Please tell your friends!
[stumbles in and rolls this under the closing door at the last minute]
Another year where I didn't quite manage to draw for myself each month, but I filled the gaps with some favorite commissions! I don't know if I posted the one for April separately, but that was a linocut I did with Holly on our anniversary trip! The December image wasn't posted either; some character design noodling for a story I'm working on.
Holly suggested I put one of the photos I took in Italy for October, because I didn't draw anything but I did shoot 6 rolls of film and travel a great distance with good company.
I just realized I completely forgot to upload this here! This is a custom dice box I did for Charlotte @letmebegaytodd featuring her Centaur Fighter, Barbe. The main character art on the front of the box was done by Livali @bonyfish, whose awesome linework translated so well to wood engraving! This was quite a project involving working with some new wood stains and mixing up my own colors. The different segments of the marquetry on the back and front are all cut as different pieces, stained and then pieced together.
Commission for dear pal @thestarfishface!! A companion piece to this one of her character Lapis that I did for an art trade. This time it's Laz, Lapis' mysterious counterpart/foil/???. For the accompanying flower, Star picked Adonis annua, which has a variety of common names including, pertinently, "blooddrops". In Victorian flower language, it means "painful recollections".

Screenshot study from Pitch Black (2000) to practice my digital painting! Done with Rebelle 5 Pro.
Original screenshot under the cut:
A twofer for returning client @ceilingcow! A linework illustration of their D&D character Sidereal, for use as a little laser-etched wooden game token, and colors on the previous ink illustration I did of their partner @letmebegaytodd's character Barbe, as a surprise!

Commission for @ceilingcow of their partner @letmebegaytodd's character! This was a really fun one; thank you again!!
