The biggest difference between Russell and Landon was that Russell seemed to talk more, way more, and Landon simply nodded along to everything he was saying. That was until he caught the words ‘girl’ and ‘amazing’. His head shot up when Russell suddenly stopped talking and he raised his eyebrows. “Oh no you don’t. You’re not getting away that easily. Who is she? Clearly she’s amazing, I mean your face is redder than those tomatoes I threw at my neighbor that one time.” To be honest, he was a little shocked Russell was talking to a girl. No offense to him, but he didn’t come off as the type to put himself out there, but regardless, Landon was happy for him. He knew what it was like to have a girl care for you, and despite how much he’d deny it, it was a great feeling. As he moved up to the front of the line, he asked Russell what he wanted before placing their order. “Yeah, I get it. I mean, I don’t get it. I’m not that way, but it’s like a control thing, right? That’s what it feels like to me. Having the control to make people do whatever you want.” Why he didn’t expect him to start teasing him over his confession, was beyond Landon and he rolled his eyes. “Yeah, well don’t get used to it. The only other time I’ll say those words is when you’re on your deathbed. But uh, yeah thanks too. Lilah can totally speak for me. I was with her whenever that mess went down with Daphne or whatever. So no team hacker for me.” Handing the boy his drink, he made his way to a table in the back. Once he sat down he shrugged his shoulders. “I do trust you,” he said, feeling like he needed to clear up exactly what he meant. “My gut trusts you, but it has steered me wrong before. That’s all I meant.” He laughed a little at the last statement. “No, you don’t say? Look I get it. Most people in this town are terrified of me, so it’s not like I’m popular either. Us freaks have to stick together, right?”
Russell liked that Landon didn’t talked that much. Usually people didn’t paid attention to what the other person was saying because they were too damn busy thinking on what they would say next. It was not that way with him. At least that’s how Russell saw it. Seeing how his head shot up, Russell knew he had probably said too much. “It’s really not that big of a deal. Uhm... Her name is Lisa...I like her, at least I think I do. I’m pretty sure I do. I don’t know if she likes me though. She probably haves a lot of other guys that she would rather spend time with. I don’t even know. She is to me. Throwing tomatoes to your neighbors is a huge act of vandalism. You are aware of that, right?” Russell wanted the subject to be dropped as fast as he could. Though deep down he liked being able to talk about this. Landon was the only one he could tell this to. It was nice to having someone you could share things with. When Landon asked what he would like, they boy said that a coffee would be fine. He didn’t liked all those things that they mixed with it like soy and caramel and those weird things. “Exactly! For him it’s exciting! He likes the control. He has control over his victims by being the one that chooses if they live or die and how they do it. Probably we are looking at someone who likes to know things, to have enough information to win an argument and play people into getting his way. The hacker would also know the town pretty well. I mean he clearly moves around easily.” This was also a bonus. Being able to talk about the hacker. Russell had begun digging about him, but there were moments when he didn’t knew what else to do. The one who was killing really knew how to hide his steps. The boy chuckled softly as he rolled his eyes, “I’m sure you will say it at least once before that. Sorry to tell you, but that doesn’t really mean you are not on the hacker team. The hacker could have an accomplice. That way he could get an alibi and no one would suspect of him. At least that would be the smart thing to do. I don’t think you are on the hacker’s team by the way.” The boy said with a small grin. Every-time he met a new person, Russell tried to find the motives for that person of being the hacker. Landon didn’t liked a lot of people, but that didn’t seemed the reason that the hacker killed. Yet he worked with animals so he would probably have the resources to knifes and stuff like that as well as the knowledge. To prevent from getting his face punched, he decided to keep this information to himself. “Good. I’m glad you do. Do you want to talk about that or do you prefer to keep it to yourself?” He asked smiling. “Yeah! Really... Oh. You were being sarcastic, right? Yeah. We definitely should.”
