Okay, President Snow’s use of ’by the way’ throws me off every time. I don’t know if it’s the placement or what, but it instantly reduces him to a catty teenage girl in my mind.
When was that?
Hi there. I don't have my copy on hand, but it happens in the first fifty pages when President Snow visits Katniss in her home before the Victory Tour. I'm paraphrasing but it's like "btw I know you and Gale kissed" hope that helps!
Naomi and Ely have loved each other their whole lives, even though Ely isn't exactly into girls. The institution of a "No Kiss List" has prevented the two from rifts in the past, but bonds are tested when they both fall for the same guy.
“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armor yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.”
Next Read
I just finished The 5th Wave and don't know what to read next. So many books to choose from. Suggestions?
Bran thought about it. “Can a man still be brave if he’s afraid?” “That is the only time a man can be brave,” his father told him.
“If you would take a man’s life, you owe it to him to look into his eyes and hear his final words. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the man does not deserve to die.”
Where On Earth is BookNation?
Sooo my laptop died a while back (greetings from my new iPad) and I wish that was the only reason I stopped posting, but I have other reasons. I got a full time job! Even though I'm still in the probationary period, I'm hopeful that this will be my career. There's definitely been a decline in my reading. However, I'm hoping to resurrect the blog using Kobo on my iPad in the new year. I may have to change my goal of reading a different book each week to reading a different book every two weeks or even one a month.
when will you announce the winner of your giveaway?
Ah! Sorry I was supposed to do that two days ago. I got a new full-time job and have been adjusting accordingly. But ahem
The winner of Book Nation's giveaway is iwasthylaonce and she chose Shadow and Bone as her prize! The book has been dispatched so hopefully it shows up soon...
I don't feel like eating cake or celebrating or conducting a play-by-play as if we just won the basketball tournament or something. Justice doesn't work like that. It doesn't erase what happened. It doesn't make you who you were before.

Standing up for what's right is a huge burden to bear. It's normal to have some doubt.

The Mockingbirds: The Movie?
I think a movie adaptation of this book would be severely triggering. But the message of the book is so important. I want it to be a movie, but all the internalized misogyny would probably cause an immense amount of controversy.
I have no idea for a fan cast. What do you think?
