Ah yes, the new age pirates. I toast to you, have some rum my friends đŤĄđˇ
We are LGBTIQ refugees in Gorom Refugee Camp, Sudan.
The heat here is extreme.
Daytime temperatures stay above 40°C for weeks. Inside our shelters, it feels much hotter.
The shelters are made of thin plastic and rusted sheets. There is no shade. No ventilation. No fans.
At night it barely cools down, so we do not sleep.
Heat exhaustion, dehydration, skin rashes, and headaches are common. People on ARVs and TB medication suffer more because the drugs increase heat sensitivity. Children and the elderly collapse.
The small WFP rations spoil faster in the heat. Maize gets weevils. Beans ferment. We cannot store food, so we eat less.
Plastic tarps tear more in the sun. Rain leaks through, but the heat makes the plastic brittle, so shelters cannot be repaired with what we have.
We stay inside to hide from stigma and violence, but inside is an oven. We cannot move during the day, so we lose work, meetings, and chances to get help.
We queue for hours for water in the sun. Many get dizzy and go home empty-handed.
So we are urgently need support to go through this hell
We need Shade + Shelter Materials, Heavy-duty tarpaulins, rope, and poles to create communal shade and patch roofs.
Extra water points or jerrycans so we are not queuing for hours in 40°C heat.
Mosquito nets, floor mats, and if possible, solar fans for the most at-risk households.
Rehydration salts and basic skin medication at the clinic.
We are not asking for comfort. We are asking to survive the heat without falling sick or fainting.
Please share this. The world must know Gorom is burning.
ban men's sports i have seen enough
it's always so fucking funny to me when terfs are like "how can you say trans women and women are the same thing! being born as a man makes you different!" because like. yes. trans women and cis women are different. so are black women and white women. and straight women and queer woman. and women from different countries and different socioeconomic statuses. there's diversity in the experience of womanhood? what a wild concept
incidentally, this why terfs tend to be white women. from the combahee river collective statement, 1977:
...we reject the stance of Lesbian separatism because it is not a viable political analysis or strategy for us. It leaves out far too much and far too many people, particularly Black men, women, and children. We have a great deal of criticism and loathing for what men have been socialized to be in this society: what they support, how they act, and how they oppress. But we do not have the misguided notion that it is their maleness, per seâi.e., their biological malenessâthat makes them what they are. As BIack women we find any type of biological determinism a particularly dangerous and reactionary basis upon which to build a politic.Â
(emphasis mine)
"To argue that transsexual women should not enter [women-exclusive spaces] because their experiences are different would have to assume that all other women's experiences are the same, and this is a racist assumption. The argument that transsexual women have experienced some degree of male privilege should not bar them from our communities once we realize that not all women are equally privileged or oppressed."
(from "Whose feminism is it, anyway?" by Emi Koyama)
This. This is the core of it. This is why trans-exclusionary radical feminism is rooted in racism, colonialism, and imperialism. It excludes the idea that there can be any other type of âwomanâ except one very (white, colonialist, imperialist) definition.
They didn't even want certain women having voting rights and were against freed women from having voting rights. USA suffergettes really were on some stanky shit.

Anyways support womenâs rights and wrongs
Being a public figure as a woman must just suck massively. People are constantly creating rumours about you, criticising you, sexualising you, and over-analysing you.
I mean I look at it like this. Just about every famous woman has had time of intense hatred against them.
Anne Hathaway has had it.
Kristen Stewart has had it.
Brie Larson has had it.
Millie Bobby Brown has had it.
Megan Fox has had it.
Anna Kendrick has had it.
Candice Patton has had it.
And so many more. Itâs exhausting to watch, I canât imagine what it would be like to experience it.
what I love about room is when they escape, itâs actually quite realistic in its portrayal in that itâs not all suddenly sunshine and rainbows.
joyâs father cannot even bring himself to look at jack which does impact her relationship with her father and even though none of what happened is jackâs fault, I think you are meant to have some level of compassion about what his problem is bc jack IS a reminder of the physical trauma joy went through.
joy also isnât suddenly healed from her trauma, which does cause her to do stuff such as snap at jack at points and does lead to her attempting suicide due to what she went through and her thinking her son would be better off without her and that sheâd failed him.
like it also has a hopeful ending which I am glad of, but it is still pretty realistic in its portrayal of trauma and I do think itâs a trauma that joy, jack and their family will unfortunately have to live with for the rest of their lives. but they love and support each other and I think the story wants you to believe that they can continue to grow through it.
Women are allowed to be annoying, bitchy, mean spirited, unkind, lousy, lazy, finicky, anxious, disinterested, disingenuous, disrespectful, and also be believed when they come forward about sexual harassment or assault. Women are allowed to be unliked and also believed. We cannot keep equating our own inability to like someone to our ability or lack thereof to believe them. I donât see this inability when it comes to men. In fact, I think so many people love a redeeming arc in a man, but hate it seen in women. Why? Why? Why do men get to have comeback stories from things like addiction, theft, bad workplace behavior, even things as heinous as manslaughter⌠but a woman canât come back from a bad interview? A bad press junket? A bad relationship? I canât think of men so hated the way women like Amber Heard and Blake Lively are hated right now. Even beyond them. Itâs so easy to hate women right now. Cynthia Erivo, Lea Michele, Jennifer Lopez, Brie Larson, Rachel Zegler, Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift, and so on. I see unprecedented amounts of hate for these women and more nearly everytime they make a headline, but I donât see the same energy for men. And if any one of them were to come out about sexual harassment or assault, I guarantee Iâd have to see more comments about how it doesnât matter because theyâre famous, or how they brought it on themselves, or how theyâre probably lying because they need the engagement or sympathy. It is so much more important to believe women than it is to belittle them, even the ones you dislike or distrust. Even if she did lie, I promise you, the men that they âruinâ the career of can always come back. The internet will open their arms to any man with half a jawline or lukewarm wit.
Pride month without a girlfriend? Very homophobic
This has been said before by people better at articulating their opinions than me, but the bad reception Black Widow got from male MCU fans is about so much more than just the simple concept that it's a superhero movie starring a woman, but the fact that it's so clearly a film by women for women. It's in all the little things, like all the amazing braids sported by the female characters instead of having them constantly fight with their hair down, Yelena and Natasha being excited about the vest and all its pockets, zero sexualisation of any of the Widows, the forced hysterectomy being discussed matter-of-factly, and the women getting to wear minimal to no make-up in settings where that makes sense. But it's also in the big things, like the story centred around the epidemic of girls being subjected to human trafficking with a theme of reclaiming your anatomy and freeing other female victims, both others and your own.
Obviously this doesn't mean that every single woman on earth is automatically gonna identify with and like the movie, that's an impossible achievement. But it is a movie that's so much more than pandering, and these geeks are just completely incapable of inserting themselves into a point of view different from their own.
Yeah, when the menz get all whiny and butthurt that a movie isnât catering directly to them, I just sit back and drink a nice hot cup of tea brewed with male tears.
the joy Yelena has for her pockets (which is so cute and tragically heartbreaking) alone shows this cos lord knows women's stuff lacks pockets and a brainwashed spy knowing this speaks volumes.
plus the piercings being objectively a hinderence to their fighting but still kept- honestly cherry on the top and not just because it highlights their desire for bodily autonomy; general desire to control their inner and outer perceptions (plus it looks cool).
Save me sapphic couples in media, save me
Happy Pride Month đłď¸âđ love yâall â¤ď¸.
