While in Yangshuo, China in 2009, @mikecall and I had the brilliant idea of taking a hot air balloon ride to capture the beauty of the area. Mike assured me that the balloon pilots understand the air currents and have the balloon completely under control. That was a lie. Once airborne, it turns out, the balloon's flight pattern is completely random, which is why vans called "balloon chasers" rally frantically around in the roads beneath, following the balloon's random path. During the flight, we came within inches of colliding with one of these karstic limestone features, which would've been really, really bad. Alas, we survived and did capture some epic imagery before crash landing in a rural cemetery. @flavorpaper #travel #yangshuo #china #hotairballoon #climbing
