How Functions Work: Dominant Ne (ENTP/ENFP)
The dominant function is the first mental tool that you rely on in the process of trying to make sense of the world. Extraverted functions (Se Ne Te Fe) are objective because they encourage you to interact with the external world. Introverted functions (Si Ni Ti Fi) are subjective because they encourage you to construct an internal sense of individuality.

Clark: Could you come help the justice gang?
Kara: Woof I wish I could, but I don't want to.
I LOVE how Kara’s hair just goes everywhere in this film. It’s whipping around at the bus, it’s freezing in a mess around her head in space, it’s draped over her head and hiding her face from vomit. It so satisfying to watch! And then her final sun moment where it’s flowing majestically in the wind really fits how she’s stepping into her hero shoes!!!
I think it was not only fine but important for Kara to be de-supered for most of the movie.
1) She wasn’t superpowered on Argo. She was exactly the same as she was on any other red sun planet except sicker. Unlike Clark, she didn’t grow up super. This is what her body normally feels like to her. Being super on Earth is new and unnatural to her.
2) She’s in a state of mental anguish, disassociation, and grief and is self-medicating through that with her dog and alcohol and guess what? Alcohol doesn’t work on Earth or any other yellow sun system.
3) The point of the movie is that you have to choose to be good and kind, and that it’s hard, and that also being good and kind does not look the same for everyone. For Kara, making that choice also meant choosing to become sober in the face of her depression and alocholism, which is extremely difficult for any alcoholic. She needed something beyond Ruthye’s plea to force her into action, and that was putting her best friend and emotional support animal’s life in jeopardy. Nothing else was enough to motivate her.
4) Relapsing is extremely common and expected. The dual sun planet mimicked the way that you can start feeling better on your antidepressants and then get hit out of nowhere with another wave of it. It’s awful. But guess what? There’s still hope if you wait it out.
5) The fights in the movie progressed from seeking to self-harm (she enjoyed the physical novelty of being hurt on Ruthye’s planet when she fought the thief) to preventing hurt (to Ruthye’s childhood and psyche and the girls who would have been trafficked had she not ended the bandit ring), which is also a journey of acceptance of her new powers. She goes from resenting having them because they are inextricably related to the death of her family and people, to accepting that she has the power to do real good and prevent other people hurting the way she is.
It wasn’t anti-feminist or bad writing to have her “normal” for so much of the story. It was essential to her character growth.
Superman: to defeat you I am going to punch you. Maybe laserbeam you. Maybe, if you're particularly bad, run you through a few buildings.
Supergirl: TRIPLE BACKSLAM INTO THE GROUND MOTHERFUCKER
AND ANOTHER THING about Supergirl is that I was really worried the movie would be all “take the high ground” about killing human traffickers and shit, but then at the end Kara just fucking stabs that guy TWICE and I realized the movies actually about cycles of abuse and protecting the innocent
THE KARA THAT I ALWAYS WANTED TO SEE I FINALLY SAW AND I LOVE HER 😭😭!!! SHES BEING A MENACE, IS SASSY AND ARROGANT AND RAGEBAITS THE PPL AROUND HER!! DOESNT HESITATE TO WRECK UR SHIT AND BEAT UP A PEDO?!?? HELL YEA I'M SOLD!! ✊🏼✊🏼 SHOWS SHE CARES MOSTLY FROM ACTIONS??!! OKAY I'M DONE
the silent scream made the whole thing, like, grief so overwhelming she’s going to burst, about being so full of sadness and rage all while knowing that to release that grief is to hurt those around her, because her scream, one that anguished, would level buildings, so she flies to space, screams into a void that sucks out everything inside of her, and is enveloped by the cold emptiness, because to feel her grief is to do harm, so instead she holds it inside and slowly cracks underneath it all, has the breath stolen from her lungs, ribs cracking under pressure, endless silence, nothing she can do does anything
GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS GUYS. EMOTIONALLY CONSTIPATED NOT QUITE HERO KARA ZOR'EL DRINKING UNTIL SHE'S NUMB TO FORGET THE PAIN OF LOSING EVERYTHING. LAUGHING WHEN SHE LOSES BLOOD PUKING ALL OVER THE PLACE. SHE SAVES CHILD BRIDES AND KILLS A GUY WITH A SWORD THROUGH THE THROAT. I STAY WINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We got Kara kicking ass, killing pedos, saving little girls all while starting to heal and learn from her trauma and you don't want me to be happy with the movie????
Kara and Ruthye art in honor of the movie
Honestly not having Harley more involved in Ivy's environmental activist on a purely animal based focus is such a missed opportunity. this part reminded me of it cause I feel like if Ivy just mentioned the animals that're being effected by deforestation Harley would be on an equal rage level if she's in character tbf
cause Harley loves animals. a fucking lot. it's like the one positive I can give the Conner and Palmiotti run is that they really hammered that part in. Harley has a very long standing history with having a soft spot for animals, she's maimed multiple animal abusers over the years. she wanted to be a vet at one point before she went into psychology !!
(this predates the Howard arc too and has similar things that appeared in things like Justice League Action in "Harley Goes Ape" written by Dini and in the short stories Harley Loves Joker that Paul Dini wrote in the Conner and Palmiotti comics)
Personally I think we need to bring back all of Harley's pets, not just Bud and Lou.
Nathan my beloved
Agreed!!! I love her love for animals 😭
back when Phillips first came on for her 2021 comic I made a reddit account purely so I could ask her during a Q&A if Nathan was alright lmaoo
YES! she had rescued all the pets from an animal shelter at one point 😭
one of the funniest scenes in supergirl is when ruthye is saying her speech to lobo, despite being told not to go up to him, and you see kara mockingly mouthing along to it behind them 😭 they’re so rude big sister and annoying little sister coded lmao
Watching my blondie today!! Milly is so cute and her Kara is the best!
SHES SO CUTE OMG 😭😭😤😤
i really really loved how the supergirl 2026 movie subverted the 'if you kill them ur no better then them' trope, i loved that the conflict was not that he doesnt deserve to die but rather that ruthye deserves to not have to kill him, that she is just a child and should not have to carry that burden along with everything she had already been through. i really loved how kara killing him recontextulizes her actions leading up to that moment, how it becomes clear that it was never her intention to let him live, but to keep ruthye safely away from the fight.
ive always disliked the anti revenge narrative because sometime people do just do things that are unforgivable and wont be stopped by the current system, but here kara never said ruthye should forgive him, but rather that ruthye deserved to live on and it is made far more impactfull by the fact that it is in the same fight where kara accepts the suit and truly becomes supergirl. superman is the shield, supergirl is the sword, supergirl fights so girls like ruthye dont have to.
