Wisty released another softly glowing orb into the air, watching as it slowly dimmed then sputtered out. She let out a small sad noise as her and Kilor's den was plunged into darkness. The quiet sound of rustling fabric was the only warning she received for his sudden presence.
"Wisteria, it's time to sleep." Kilor's low voice murmured near her, some part of him brushing against her shoulder.
"Wait- wait, just one more." She whispered hastily back. Cupping her claws once again, he didn't reply as she focused her roiling magic into the air between her palms. A few seconds passed before a spark of light flickered into existence. She sagged in disappointment as the small light seemed to shatter.
Determination swelled in her and she concentrated harder, tapping down on her magic, directing it between her fingers. It sparked again, brighter, it folded onto itself to form an orb. Wisty focused until it doubled in size, the size of the clementines from Pimith's garden, then slowly released it.
It drifted, illuminating dark red scales wrapped around her smaller Spiral body. His electric purple eyes watched the orb float before alighting upon her, her stomach fluttered with her magic.
"Hi," she said softly. Kilor smiled fondly.
"Hello Wisty, my heart." His gaze wandered back to the orb. "This one is lasting longer than the others." She looked up at where it was hovering near his horns now.
"It is!" She tried to will it back down and slowly it bobbed to follow her unspoken command. It sputtered slightly as it went and she felt her body tip, eyes blurring.
"I think that's enough Wisty." A note of warning was in Kilor's voice and she nodded.
"I'm- I'm gonna dismiss it." The orb sparked explosively out of existence, like a glass shattering against the ground. Their den plunged into darkness, the only sound her heavy breathing.
"Easy, Wisteria." Kilor murmured, gently nosing against her cheek. "Here, lay down." He curled tighter around her, his hand on her shoulder encouraging her to sink down into the soft mass of fabric.
"I'm okay." She said faintly as she nestled down, his head came to rest beside her, touching every inch of her from nose to all the way down her neck.
"I'm here." He said quietly and she sighed heavily as she leaned into him more. Wisty felt so safe with him wrapped around her, his large Imperial body completely encircling her.
"Kilor, can I feel your magic?" His wing carefully draped over her. With a brush of his feathers a soft comfortable blanket of darkness fell over her, soothing her roiling magic. "Thank you."
"Anything to help you, my heart. Now try to sleep please." Wisty hummed as she closed her eyes, hoping that his gentle darkness would guide her into peaceful sleep.
Just one piece this month, of Morchella, another Flight Rising dragon being added to Art Fight.
Not a lot of art this month because I've been accepted into ✨college✨ and I've been writing scholarship essays. T-T I'm getting a degree in environmental science. :D
It’s been forever since I last posted anything, so here’s a quick portrait of Persephone. Trying to lean more into a painterly style with the brushstrokes.
Was gonna go just for a draft horse/gaoler hybrid but then I realised that if added a bit of reindeer in instead I wouldn't have to suffer drawing the gaoler horns again~
