learning the names of local plants. noticing where water gathers. thanking a tree before taking from it. picking up trash. leaving a place better than you found it. sitting quietly long enough to feel the mood of the land.

I saw a post the other day about how difficult mindfulness meditation can be, especially for people who are neurodivergent, and OP was frustrated that their therapist never recommended anything else. There are many opportunities to bring mindfulness, focus, and intention to activities you already like! Learning about flow state has been a real eye-opener for me.

TFW you realize you've actually been doing ADHD meditation by baking or cleaning to make yourself feel better.

That makes an annoying amount of sense.

For the month of June I challenged myself to draw as much of the beginning of Cramming for Magic Class as I could.

I wanted to share what I was able to do, mostly just background, dialogue, and sketches of characters. **This is not finished.**

That's it lol. Didn't even get to draw my characters 😆. But I like this beginning, I wanted to establish that elves are separated from most of the world, that humans basically know nothing about them.

And also a bit of the border, even though from a human perspective it just looks like a few thorn bushes.

I might do more between projects, but things happen.

Pride month is over already. 😭 This month I decided to draw as much of Cramming for Magic Class as I could. I already posted that on my writing blog so I'll reblog it here as well.

Art Fight Filtered Characters

A short description on why some of my characters are filtered on Art Fight, because I feel Art Fight isn't specific enough.

(Under cut is descriptions of filtered content, no art. You have been warned.)

Defile:

Filtered for body horror

They have a wide mouth, teeth-like bones sticking out, and (While their art doesn't show this) can twist and elongate their body.

Aureh:

Filtered for Sensitive content

Based off a spider and has more than five eyes.

Happy Midsummer! 🌻

I picked a bouquet of sunflowers, coreopsis, and black eyed susans from the garden. I made a blueberry lemon cake with cream cheese frosting, it was fun even though I couldn't really eat it.

It's being raining a lot and really hot, so I haven't been able to sit outside but happy Midsummer all the same! <3

The Rodeo Rule: you only have to do it for the first time once.

The Rohan Rule: if you are at a social function full of new people and you want to be liked, find someone doing important work like setup or food prep and offer to help.

The Tutorial Mode Rule: to navigate an unfamiliar situation where you fear you will mess up an interaction, preface the interaction by mentioning that you've never done this before, and let them know if you have a specific concern or question.

The Rocket Science Rule: most new things you want to try seem very complicated but are simple when taken step by step.

The [X] Will Remember That Rule: if you need to make small talk with the same person on a regular basis, try to save one fact or current event in their life from a given conversation and bring it up next time you talk.

The Cool Binder Rule: by wearing clothes and accessories that are to your taste instead of trying to blend in, people will be more likely to compliment you and show interest in you as a person.
