“It’ll be a short date.“
I just want to be friends with more robots.

He’s less than half a second away from drawing his gun and calling for Q, or somebody else who might have some clue what the hell is going on, but then a thought seems to strike him, and he pauses instead.
“Ought I assume that you’re – good with computers?”
Because there’s a rule or two he needs to break, and Q still hasn’t forgiven him for the last time he managed to draw the man into his rebellions.
“Computers, software, hardware, mechanical engineering-- you know, your basic field triage.” He laughs at his own joke; ah, EXO humor. “Why? Did you visit some dubious web-sites and need someone to get rid of a virus? I also clear browser histories for free.”
A beat; the slight tilt of his head as arms cross, before hands move to dictate. “But you could always ask the kid that runs this place-- the high-strung one with glasses.”
selflessdoctor:
Simon could do nothing but stop and stare at the sight before him. Jayne was wounded, the groaning gave it away if Simon hadn’t seen his side covered in blood. The medic’s chest rose and fell, eyes from Jayne to the mysterious visitor. He swallowed and moved to Jayne’s side anyway, pressing his hands against the wound. Now that voice—- was that the Captain’s voice? No. Of course not. Mal wasn’t— what was this guy? At the last sentence, even wounded, Simon could feel Jayne start to move— not at all about that idea. Simon grunted and pushed him back down. “What do you want?”
“Huh, you know what? I hadn’t thought that far ahead.” And he hadn’t, not really. “You know that thing people say ‘Honor amongst thieves’? I guess I just wanted to make sure the guy didn’t die-- I’m really trying to turn over a new leaf.”
He’s being shot with some dirty looks from Bleedy McGee over here.
“He’s not gonna die--” He ignores the snarl and the guy entirely, simply keeping his optics on the doctor. “--is he?”
“I don’t want to cause any alarms here, but-- he might’ve been shot. Also: I might’ve been the one to shoot him, but-- in all fairness, he was waving a very big gun around.”
The man in question isn’t dead (though with all the moaning going on, he sounds like he wants to be)-- Could’ve been worse, could’ve been right through the skull, but he was feeling nice.
“I’m keeping his gun, by the way.”

Careful observation is critical, analytic. Every word and movement is catalogued; unfamiliarity is a spy’s greatest enemy, after all. Know your enemy and you know how to defeat them — and in the end, sooner or later, everything ends up an enemy.
“Are you — working with Six?”
“Yes.” Sort of-- it’s difficult to actually explain his entire being here, but he’d somehow fit among the lost mechanical items; broken, repaired, made new once more-- well, as new as one can be with lackluster materials. Top of the line in this day and age, sure, but boy, what he wouldn’t give for some Sapphire wire.
“Though, I am completely autonomous; not a remote controller in this thing.” A knock of knuckles to his chest. “I do pick up FM radio if I open my mouth a certain way.” Of which he attempts; saying ‘ahh’ as he does so, orange hues lighting up his mouth with each vibration of his voice. “Hang on-- maybe if I--” A dip of his head, tilted slightly further as he leans back a bit.
When he gets nothing, he gives up with a shrug and a bit of a nervous chuckle.
“Must be the, heh,-- building interference.”
terminalwelocity:
“ — and for this, he called you a liar, I expect.”
Pavel loves a good bar-side story, exaggeration and all. Has told a few himself with the intent to impress or even seduce, and there’s laughter in his voice; this one is a story he’s enjoyed. Still.
“Even your – classic good looks cannot overcome the most basic tenets of science. Every engine needs a spark, no? I do not think any bone structure —” a pause, a tip of the head that’s a touch apologetic. “— face structure? Can provide this.”
“See, having a background in engineering is doing this story no justice.” He teases, has to, the kid was a known prodigy-- and even though he was all wires and components, he knew a thing or two about the type. Humans. Smart Humans.
At least he wasn’t talking to a Vulcan. Hard to read those guys.
“I’m saying: I can talk the pistons off of any combustion engine.” It’s here he makes the motion of buffing his nails against his chest. Sure he doesn’t have nails, and yes, his hands are currently gloved, but that’s beside the point.
It’s confidence that he’s doing his best to display; that and his ego might suffer if he doesn’t.
“So, what about you? Got any sparks flying in that meat-suit of yours?”
Will send you on a treasure hunt just to find his cache with his tin foil hat. YAY.

“–There’s a reason that sign blinks!” the severed arm looks a lot more like surgery than she is at all comfortable with. “Th’ computer has ‘n automated warning system!” Wait, no, that’s an optoisolator, she can do something with that “We dinnae program that kinda thing in fer a damn laugh ye maniac! What were ye doin’ tae get yer whole arm–??”
“It Blinks?! --huh, must’ve caught it before it flashed on again.” No, he completely disregarded any warning signs, simply because they usually applied to the fleshier demographic.
Arm torn off, lesson learned.
“I dropped a pretzel-- it rolled. I went to reach for it and--” He waves the stump of his mechanical arm in the air. “You know, blinking sign aside, you should really find a better way to corner off that entire section-- this could’ve been a whole lot messier. I could’ve been made out of you.”

I’m bringing back masks for Halloween-- I know we just got the Tower back, but I think we can all use a little spirit, here and there.
spiderlingman:
That sounds like a very heartfelt apology. Or an earnest call for compromise. But Peter’s not buying it.
“Sure! But I’m not giving you your gun back.” You still look like a highly trigger happy robo-masked individual, muchacho.
“You know what? I didn’t want to do this, but you’ve given me no choice.” He’s so miffed-- but instantly drops to his knees, hands clutched together in a plea.
“Please, please, please, give me my gun back?” Sure he’s got two more-- somewhere, but that was his favorite! He shuffles forward on his knees. Let it be known, Cayde-6; Vanguard of the people, isn’t above begging.
Not with this.
“It was a gift from a very dear friend of mine and I’d hate to be without it when I see him again-- I mean, really. Ever seen a mad Awoken? I swear even their etherial glow makes a frowney face.”
littleostentatious:
“If there is a way, we’ll find it.”
Tony’s always been a gut instinct kind of guy, and it’s gotten him in trouble in the past. But this guy(?) hasn’t pulled a gun on him, or even subtly threatened him. So he’s going to give him the benefit of the doubt.
And who wouldn’t want to be the guy to figure out an effective means of time travel?
“Time to get to work. Should I call you Mr. Terminator? Or was that your dad?”
“Ha ha, very funny, I don’t know who that is.” And he doesn’t, not really. To be fair, the moment he found himself in the past, the only thing he might’ve heard people mention (among some screaming) was someone named Ultron? Yikes. What a name.
He extends his hand, “Cayde-6; Vanguard-- not that the title means anything to you, now. It will later. Maybe. I’m a really important EXO to know in the future-- also the most handsome... that is, if I get back to the future.
--It would be a shame if I never did, and someone decided to take my place-- not as a Vanguard, but as the most handsome. I can’t have that. The future can’t have that.” A beat. “I’ve gone off topic-- where was I--.. oh! Yeah, so I got displaced by a Vex teleporter; at first it was a teleportation loop that kept throwing me from one place to another, but by the time help arrived to turn off the thing-- I, uh, ended up here.
I’m guessing a button was pushed, or the device was mishandled, or Ghost decided it might be fun to get me to stop talking. Either way, none of that helps you with building me a thing, right?”
DO YOU EVER FUCKING CRY AND THINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT BANSHEE-44 IS CALLED BANSHEE-44 BECAUSE HE WAS REBOOTED 44 TIMES?!?!
Now may i direct your attention to Cayde-6.
If we assume that every EXO gets an increased number by their name when they’re rebooted, then Cayde-- who’s seen the fall of the golden age and was there when the darkness consumed EVERYTHING, has been rebooted 6 times.
It’s a known fact that EXOs don’t, or at least, aren’t suppose to retain their memories after a reboot-- but there are hints that Banshee does, and we KNOW Cayde remembers things-- even if he can’t remember his life before he became an EXO, he still has memories from after he ‘woke up’.
Ugh. *lays down*
*cries about EXOs*

Look at me-- If you don’t think I’m going to use the fact that Cayde-6 got stuck in a teleportation loop as a plausible reason for why he randomly appears in different points of time to justify talking to certain muses, you would be so wrong.
Vex teleporters are tricky things, and yeah, he was trying to get one so that he could teleport to Gary and put a bullet in his head, but you know what?
Time and space are manipulated.
So there. There’s that. That’s a thing you now know.
