Meant To Be - young Dracula, Vladimir Dracula x fReader
This is only part one I have no idea how many chapters I will write. This is my first ever post pleaseee be nice. This WILL be a slow burn. If you would like oneshots ask away. Sorry it’s a bit short. Starts when they’re young. Will go from season 1-5.
I had always wondered why I’d been friends with the people around me. One of them being the weirdest person she knew and the other being a literal vampire. She didn’t mind though. I mean they were my only friends ever since my move. Well my only friends. Dad and Mum move around the UK so much it’s hard to make friends. I mean it was totally unexpected. I was in my new school. Doing the same routine I normally do in school.
Today in my new school I keep my head down. It’s easy, I’m not particularly that noticeable. I’m not really ugly but I’m not gorgeous and I’m not smart enough to be a genius but not dumb enough to be in need of help. I’m just average. Deathly average. And I’m okay either way that. I like being alone. So as I walk the corridors at lunch avidly trying to avoid the lunch hall and the overwhelming amount of students in there, I hear a crash coming from the woodworks room. I stop. I don’t know why but I put my ear to the door. It’s like fate told me to.
“That boy Vlad we need to get rid of him.” I gasp, it sounded like Mr Van-Helsing’s voice.
“I know, Dad but… what about Mum. She doesn’t want us to go up to that castle again.” Who I assume is his son Johnny. “We must kill them.” He says slightly more hushed. I shift slamming against the wall. I hear them shift closer to the door and I sprint outside and crouch on the ground.
I hear a voice talk to me. “You okay?”
“You’re Vlad, right?” I reply
“What’s up with you and Van-Helsing?”
“He must ‘get rid of you’, that sounds creepy. Should I tell a teacher?”
“No! It’s nothing. Goodbye”
“Goodbye?” He then runs off to his friend. I recognise his friend, Robin. He’s the kid in my class obsessed with vampires. If people here see me as weird due to me not wanting to ‘fit in’ they must see him as a total anomaly.
Later that day, I sat on my window. I’ve heard rumors that the Vlad boy lived in the creepy, eerie castle on the hill.
I need to see him. Find out why he was acting weird.
The walk up the hill was rough. The walk was long and the hill was steep. When I knocked on the door, a pungent smell hit me in the face, I look up and see an ogre looking man, with worts all over his face and thin, streaky hair tied in a bun. “What do you want? Who are you?” He had a bitter tone in the voice. “Ummmm, I’m Vlad’s friends.” I lied, I’m not usually one on lying but I had to. “He’s in his room. Upstairs, it’s the tower room.” I nod as I slither past him. I look into the front room. I see who I assume is his dad in a throne watching TV. His dark aura admitted so far I felt it rush down my spine. I stood still for a few seconds which felt like years. Until, I gained the courage to run up the stairs to Vlad’s room.
I burst open the door. Vlad and Robin who I assume were doing homework look at me. “Tell me”
“Tell you what” Robin says.
“Oh, don’t act secretive vampire boy.”
“Robin I know.” I exclaim, “I wanna know what you guys are hiding, about Mr Van-Helsing.”. I pout crossing my arms staring at them.
“Y/n, right?” Vlad speaks up. He stands up and extends his arm to offer a handshake. I reciprocate the handshake. “Yes. Now tell me why he wants to kill you. That’s serious stuff.”
“Whoa, you didn’t tell us that part.”
“You didn’t let me.” We just stand and stare at each other awkwardly. It kinda sucks, I hate being looked at like this. Damn he’s short, not that that’s bad but it’s noticeable.
Suddenly, his Dad and sister barge into his room. I recognised his sister, Ingrid Count, she’s the opposite of me. She’s gorgeous, extremely popular and ever wants to know her. I could make fun of her but honestly she was beautiful, there was no way to deny that and she definitely was alluring. Before I could anymore, she shouts, “TOLD YOU DAD, Vlad brought another Breather around!” Ingrid yells so loud I swear I could feel my eardrum pop. “Vladdy is this true?” his dad says. “Yes dad.” Vlad states leaning back as if to brace for impact. “Very well” his dad replies calmly. “How is that fair if I brought a Breather you’d kill me!”
“And Ingrid?” Vlad’s dad responds coldly, then he leaves and Ingrid storms off.
“What’s a Breather?” I ask curious.
“It’s what they call us humans.” Robin responds.
“Why would you do that.”. Vlad looks down as if ashamed. “Vlad?…You guys are weird.”
“You tell me.” Vlad replies.
“You gonna tell me why sir said about killing at school?” Vlad looks back up.
“Oh.” I look at my feet and see the large amount biology homework on the floor. “Want help with the bio work?”
“Yes please.” Robin replies. I sit down next to them explaining the parts and differences of plant and animal cells. It seemed like Vlad knew nothing to do with science. It confused me how he could know so little, even the slackers in the class knew this stuff. It was the basics.
After an hour us doing homework changed into us joking about how out science teacher is, how he wears his jumpers which are neon and ten sizes too big for him and how whenever he says the letter ‘r’ it sounds like ‘w’. When Vlad made a joke about his shoes and style resemble one of a clown I laughed so hard I grabbed onto his shoulders for support. He was freezing, like dead person freezing. “You’re cold. Like deathly cold” I say.
“It’s June, and I’m boiling. But it’s fine.” I checked my watch, it was 7pm already. “I need to go home, Mum would be mad.” The boys both said bye in sequence.
The walk home wasn’t as rough whether it be my good mood or the fact the journey was down hill, I don’t know. Once I reached home I see my mum, making some stew. She looked up seeing me walk through the door and questioned me “Where have you been?” She puts down the knife she’d previously used to cut tomatoes, “You never stay up late.”
And for the first time ever I’m able to say, “Sorry, I was just out with friends!”.
