Honor, loyalty and grief.
These are three of Zoro's - and noticeably, Denjiro's - most prominent motivations. In the beginning of Wano, they only knew each other as enemies, if even that much! Imagine an early meeting of theirs; a proper undercover samurai and a gruff swordsman with a dream. Zoro follows his captain, his star. The same light that has faded before Denjiro's eyes.
Loss is etched in the basis of their actions, yet the drive to achieve dying promises keeps them going. And along the way, they found people worth protecting with their life.
For over 20 years, Denjiro lived in stasis, he put his life on hold; only enduring but never living. Then, at the time Lady Toki foretold, what if he met a man whose spirit resembled that of his late master? And what if that man was extremely annoying and just couldn't keep his mouth shut even if it was the best for him?
Naturally their personalities would clash. Both of them know they fight for an extremely important cause in Wano, but is Zoro even taking it seriously!? To a unique degree, Zoro grinds Denjiro's gears.
But Denjiro knows the qualities he adores well. He can't resist the allure of a man who lives freely and without inhibition. With passion for the world and compassion for others.
And the strength Zoro sees in Denjiro... he couldn’t keep his thoughts away from that tall priss if he so wanted to. No other swordsman in Wano would garner his attention the way Denjiro did. Surely, it was only to prove his superiority, right?
Somehow, their paths would keep crossing, despite the fact they wouldn't want to see each others' faces. On pure accident, of course! Neither of their faults that they frequent the same bars and eventually share the same drinks. It seems their taste aligns quite well.
My brain chemistry has never been the same since these two!!
Right here they're holding hands, no one can convince me otherwise...!
