i do agree with you about the good points he makes, his ideology, and, of course, his Silly Little Hat.
HOWEVER. jgy IS short. i will explain.
average height for chinese men is 5’7 (~172cm) and jgy is just under this value. so he’s basically average height, right?
NO: mxtx’s works tend to favor the “all of the men are super tall” trend. (why not? they’ve got flying swords; they can be tall). what this means is that mxtx avg height =/= irl avg height, so comparing mxtx heights to irl heights doesn’t give us a good comparison. instead, we have to consider mxtx heights relative to the mxtx average.
so naturally i found a chart with all of the known character heights and calculated avg male height (excluding the juniors bc they may not be fully grown). this came out to mxtx avg(cm) = ~185cm (nearly 6’1)
to make imagining comparisons easier, we’ll suppose that irl avg = mxtx avg and find a conversion rate to approximate irl height
172cm (irl) = 185x (where x is mxtx cm)
1cm (irl) = ~1.075x OR x = ~0.92cm.
the average (male) mxtx cm is equivalent to only 0.92cm, and is valued ~7.5% greater than 1cm.
aka, we multiply mxtx given heights (in cm) by 0.92 to find an irl comparison point—this estimate puts jiang cheng & jin zixuan at 5’7, and nie mingjue at 5’9 (again, this is just to make it easier to imagine)
what i’m saying is jgy is the fantasy equivalent of 5’1 (156.4cm)
