If you are going to make a negative tumblr at least make it funny. What I find hilarious is her intro to her FAQ page, “ if you want advice on your tattoo/ tattoo idea, please message me off anon so i can reply privately.”
Scan further down and you see describe herself as, “ I’m a 20 year old white girl in the midwest. I don’t have tattoos yet because I’m poor and have more important things to pay for right now (like college)”.
Because who doesn’t want tattoo advice from a “20 year-old white girl from the midwest” who hasn’t even been inked yet?
I don’t know if she’s embarrassed by this tumblr (she didn’t delete it after all) but she did post an announcement in April that she is ‘no longer interested’ in judging people. This is nice. I don’t believe that she has been inundated with requests for advice. I’m glad she saw that her judgment may have been flawed (ya think?) regarding one of her last entries (a perfectly good Zelda tattoo). Still, she left it up, in spite of having received requests from people to remove their images from her feed. This is her default response from her FAQ page:
“ ‘please take down my tattoo you hurt my feelings!!’
i really don’t care. go away”
. Let’s be clear: these aren’t tattoo fuck-ups she was featuring. They are often perfectly good, well-executed (in some cases beautifully executed) often meaningful tattoos. She actually mocked people’s explanations of what their image means to them. In her opinion, the sublime quote, “Don't ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody” is ‘shitty text’. She also attempts to be a judge of the quality of the tattoo, a task she is clearly unqualified for (watching Ink Master doesn’t make you an expert). What’s worse, she committed the cardinal sin of being witless and unfunny. That’s not satire, that’s just bullying.

PS Reading over her ‘ask’ page, she’s also an authority on violin, queer theory, and tattoo etiquette. Really girl, delete this tumblr. One day you are going to be in your 30′s and you will squirm with mortification as you read your smug, know-it-all responses to the clueless followers who had the poor judgment to seek out your advice.
I figured out who she is and her artwork is pretty uninspired and unoriginal, especially considering she’s a Senior in her Studio Arts program at Iowa State. By that point in your art education you should be showing some individuality. I’m actually starting to feel sad for her. You have to wonder at that lack of self-esteem it requires to devote time and energy (although, really, not that much energy---her tumblr is pretty bland) to insulting other people’s work when you are an amateur with a smidgen of talent and nothing remarkable to support your positioning yourself as a voice of authority. The internet really does give delusional folks an inflated estimation of their abilities and the relative worth of their opinions. Look at me, shaming a sad 23 year-old woman. What do I know? I’ll probably delete this but I’m still pretty adamant that she should delete her shitty tumblr, if only so her future self never has to see it.
