what is the appeal of gerita?
i recently have seen a lot of people complaining about gerita being so popular and other ships getting overshadowed by it—i even saw some people say they didn’t see the appeal, though i think it’s really obvious, i figured i’d start a series where i explain why people like hetalia ships!
feliciano and ludwig have a very common and classic dynamic especially for mlm pairings! the trope is liked by many and it’s shown over and over again throughout hetalia.
out of any ship in hetalia (key word: ship, not canon relationship) feliciano and ludwig are shown to be the closest and have an overwhelming amount of scenes together. they are almost always by each other’s side!
a lot of fans took the scene in which ludwig kisses feliciano on the cheek as a confirmation of their relationship, which…is not true. actually, in italy, it’s a common greeting to kiss someone on their cheek!
even so, most people are unaware of this and took it as a romantic thing.

chibitalia & holy roman empire —
chibitalia canonically was in love with holy roman empire, and because holy roman empire and germany are technically the same person, that would sort of imply germany and italy could also be in love.
i’ll make a post on this in the future!
germany says “ich liebe dich” —
at some point in hetalia, feliciano dreams that kiku and ludwig are not actually his friends/dropped him, and this fear is “confirmed” when arthur tells feliciano that germany is only pretending to be his friend.
feliciano then runs over to ludwig to seek out the truth, to which ludwig replies; “lies, they are not true. actually, ich liebe dich. ja. ich liebe dich.”
