I think the implication is supposed to be that he's attached to it like a child to a teddy bear, in a comedic way. This is cute.

OR, once you consider that the guitar is his weapon, the implication becomes that he plans on protecting his friends if a villain sneaks onto the battle tram at night. This is heroic and cool.
