Hey folks.
if you’re a james bond/kingsman/statesman/sherlock etc blog and you’re getting followed from this blog, it’s because i really would love to interact with you over at @agnt-quila which is a side blog here
henry-parrish:
It was Jeremy’s turn to laugh at the Horseman now. “Yes, I’m all too aware that I am no longer War, Abraham. But the threat that I am making against you is not an hollow one. You should know this by now.” Jeremy’s courage was beginning to surge back through his veins now that there was a clearer threat posed to his step-father… and he might come to regret it at some point, but he couldn’t let someone like Abraham get away with threatening his step-father. “I’m the only one on this earth who knows where the Sword of Methuselah is, and rest assured, I am not afraid of wielding it against you, if you even so much as think about going near Theodore.”
Jeremy canted his head to the side with a smile on his face. He still did have at least one card up his sleeve as a form of insurance, and now Abraham knew it. It was a card that he had hoped to keep a secret, however, so he could use it when Death didn’t see it coming, but this card would be more useful with him being reminded of this fact, if in fact, it would keep Theodore safe. “And if you try to kill me now to keep that from happening?” Jeremy shook his head. “Then you will never have what it is that you desire most.”
Using the sword, however, meant that he would also be facing his own demise as well, but that was a risk that he would be willing to take if it meant keeping his step-father safe.
Laughter continued while Henry spoke. For anyone other than the warlock the display of emotion only manifested as a shaking of the Horseman’s shoulders, the way his left first was propped against his hip and the right hand still pressed against the table. It was almost indulgent to continue prodding his former colleague, to provoke responses out of him, to make threats, if only to have a form of interaction. While under the thumb of Moloch there had been no such desires, everything had vanished under the haze of the mantle of Death, but now, some small wants and needs resurfaced at times.
So long as the warlock understood his place, that he was no longer a Horseman and no match for Death - then what was the harm? Henry was too valuable a player to remove, for the present. Besides, his parole had been given that no lives would be taken until the Witnesses had determined whether or not he could be restored.
Ah, but the Sword. The laughter died away and the Horseman’s expression became dark. “Be careful what you threaten,” he rumbled. “You may not live long enough to find it if that’s where your mind is. A halt on needlessly taking lives does not mean I wouldn’t end yours if that’s your plan.” A grim half-smile punctuated the statement and Death took a certain amount of pleasure knowing that even if Crane did find that sword, and even if he did somehow best a Horseman in combat, that without a mantle to protect him a second time the warlock would be finished for good. A sort of victory to take his bane with him.
Away from Moloch though, the very human desire to hold on to life - existence - reared it’s head and ice ran down his spine to think about true death. Whether life or simply existence was what he desired though....that was up for debate. Death straightened again and settled the argument. “Worry not, friend. I gave Crane my word, your friend is safe. From me at least.”

A character can still be a great character without being a good person.
In fact, some of the best characters are terrible people.
Because a character’s worth should be based on how complex and interesting they are, not their morality if they were real.

Howdy folks,
Just wanna let you guys know that I’m still alive and I hope to be active again here soon.
Things have just gotten incredibly busy with school and other IRL issues, and Bram here isn’t always a muse that’s good for my mental health - much as I love him. I’ll prolly be more open to doing threads from before he was a horseman, if folks want to do that.
Also, my sideblog here is more active than he is so feel free to check out @olddominionstate
I am also more active on my other historical blogs so feel free to check out @toodamnloyal and a few of the others.
henry-parrish:
Jeremy was no match for a Horseman of the Apocalypse, and looking up at the broad and imposing figure made him all too aware of just how feeble that he had grown in comparison to the other. He had no reason to think that he could protect Theodore from Abraham, or the other man’s mantle, even if he had refused to relinquish Theodore’s name… He would have figured it out, eventually, and that might have involved him stalking and getting closer to him than Jeremy was comfortable with him being. Death wasn’t one to give up so easily, after all.
“Yes, it is surprisingly odd, isn’t it?” He quipped in defense of his father figure. Jeremy had already told the other more than enough about Theodore and he wouldn’t be getting anything other than that out of him… No matter the price. Bram could attack him for all that he cared, but he would not allow him to lay one finger on Theodore… Not while he was alive to prevent it from happening.
Jeremy thought, for just a moment, about turning to walk out of the door, or just disappearing out of the room and away from Bram, but he also knew that that would most likely only further anger and provoke Death… Who would also see it as cowardice on his behalf. “Rest assured, if you lay one finger on him, you will come to regret it.”
One large hand trailed across the table, the sensation dull and hardly felt at all. Pain was something long forgotten for someone who was, himself, dead. It took most all feeling with it. In the world, but not of the world.
Quite a grim parody of God’s precious Witnesses.
Hard grey eyes narrowed and stared at Henry. “As clear and illuminating as ever, Old Friend.” Came the dry response. The Crane’s and their lovely turn about of phrase, never ones to answer a question directly. Fine, let him and his ‘step-father’ keep their secrets, it wasn’t as though any human - immortal or not - posed a threat. Quite honestly the Horseman wondered how much the other man even knew. But he wasn’t important, and none of them were a threat. Not even Henry. He would see to it that so long as Crane and Katrina were willing to uphold their end of the bargain, and at least explore the possibility of restoring him, that Henry also would play his part.
He had been silent and contemplative, watching and thinking, and then he was laughing. The Rider’s shoulders shook and his right hand rested again on the table while his left gestured at the old warlock, the former Horseman. “I will come to regret it?” He passed a hand in front of his face, smothering yet another laugh. “You are no longer War. There is not even an echo of that power within you, nothing. You are a fly Henry and no matter for me to fret.”
“I would have preferred this writer explore these ideas” is an opinion. “This writer has trouble with certain aspects of story-telling” is a criticism.
“This writer sucks and is talentless” is a mean-spirited insult. “This writer should die” is a vile, shitty thing for which there is no excuse for saying. Please learn the difference and please don’t pretend you’re doing one of the two former when you’re doing one of the two latter.

ofcongress:
Affairs like this one were commonplace in John’s world. It seemed that there was always some up-and-coming man of influence that wished to make himself even more influential. Very rarely did he not receive an invitation to such an event and very rarely did he turn any invitations down.
“The pleasure is all mine,” he responded, offering his hand to shake. “You have invited an impressive group, Mr. Van Brunt. It’s frankly shocking that they were all able to make it.”
With a pleasant and genuine smile in place Abraham took the offered hand in a firm grip. “And why would they not accept?” He laughed, “Here they have free flowing drinks and food, enough to sate any appetite.” He was of course not under any impression that the guests were there on his account, but because of his family name and the lure of drink and social climbing.
“Come this way if you will, I did want to show off this new instrument I’ve heard about, and of course I had to have a gentleman to demonstrate.” He dropped Hancock’s hand and placed his on the man’s back to guide him along. “I also wanted to apologize for not making the assemblies, you understand of course.”
ofmusicandprayers:
“Without a brain? Oh, that hurts.” His lip curled up to reveal his teeth in a cross between a smile and a snarl. “That was Orion, wasn’t it? Goodness, I heard he went through an ordeal after first coming into contact with you.”
Sandalphon stood his ground, folding his arms behind his back and practically daring the houseman to take a swing at him. “Do you ever get lonely? I can’t imagine being in your shoes and having no one to turn to. Living with the knowledge that you will signal the end of days. Do you still remember what it was like to be human? Do you have any compassion for those who fear you?”
“Was that his name?” He hadn’t even bothered to learn it, not until much later. Like a hound he had been sent after the angel, and so it seemed that Orion had been searching for him as well. The Horseman’s right hand tightened around the long handle of his ax, grinding into the dark wood.
It was not a pleasant feeling that the angel’s words gave him, digging into a small bright spark of his soul that had been all but strangled by the hold the Mantle had on him. He wanted to return with his own biting remark but it was a long pause before he could find one. “Everything ends doesn’t it? I have my purpose and you have yours, mine happens to be the one which will be fulfilled.” The vague recollections of summer parties and enthusiastically engaging in an exciting mission were stamped upon.

Abraham was making his way around the foyer and sitting rooms of his mansion, mixing and greeting each of the guests. He had invited maybe of the top families in the colonies, eager to establish himself and create a reputation.
One extravagantly purple figure caught his attention and the young man headed in that direction. “Mister Hancock, I’m pleased you accepted my invitation.”
