just some things i wanna rant about
rant #1: caedsexuality, caedromanticism, etc.
Well I was trying to find labels that fit me as a neurodivergent and queer person. I knew I was ace-spec, but didn’t know exactly how I fit on it. And yeah, I knew I didn’t NEED labels or anything, but for some reason it made me less stressed about finding my identity. I could caedsexual and caedromantic and I was like, “ Shit, I think that’s me. “ But the thing about it is that when I explain it to my parents they think it’ll just go away when I heal. And that could be the case, but I’ve never really liked sex all that much. I may not always be caedsexual but I know I’ll always be on the a-spec.
Rant #2: the TikTokification of punk
holy shit this one makes me angry… So let me ask you something, what is punk? You might say it’s a fashion style or a music genre, but that’s not it. It’s a mindset and lifestyle. It’s not a fucking microtrend. TikTok’s algorithm of ‘ punks ‘ is fucking ridiculous. I’m not trying to gatekeep, I’m trying to inform. Punk is about D.I.Y.s, thrifting, using what you have——NOT FAST FASHION. Buying from capitalistic websites that sell ‘ punk items ‘ aren’t gonna make you punk. SHEIN, Temu, Wish, etc ISN’T PUNK. Also, are we gonna talk about how almost NONE of the people who consider themselves punk on the platform use punk music in their videos? It’s all fuckboy / e-boy shit that doesn’t even match the subculture. It’s watering down the authenticity and importance of punk and making it seem like nothing at all. And it’s tiring seeing an important subculture die out due to capitalism and microtrends.
Rant #3: Carrie 1976
In the book, Carrie is intentionally unattractive to society. She is chubby, not skinny. In the movie I think she’s stunning, they got one of the most beautiful actors at the time. And I mean, it’s sad that they thought they’d have to use an attractive actor for the movie to be liked. The reason they used pig’s blood out of any other animal is because they were comparing her to one, which doesn’t make sense in the movie when she’s skinny.
