cassandra smiled and looked at alonzo for a moment . . lost in thought. â maybe . . you could take me hunting. â she said simply, grinning at the tom. she acknowledged queens usually didnât go on HUNTS . . but cassandra had been curious, and quite bored. â you could help me? â she asked lightly. â and them MAYBE . . iâll take the apology . . deal? â
she held out her paw for him to take as she looked at him lightly when her eyes were set on his. â just donât be a bother. â she added on with a short chuckle as she still tried to manage to get comfortable while lounging on the side of the bathtub . . she hoped alonzo was a bit of FUN at least. wouldnât just give up because she had started to be annoyed with him . . toms were no FUN.
Alonzoâs ears perked up excitedly at the mention of hunting, âWe could do that. Rats in the city. Or I know a place with these big juicy rabbits.â The fields outside the city were the BEST hunting grounds in his opinions. They were a bit of a walk and could be an all day event, but he enjoyed them. One time, he went far enough to make it to Old Deuteronomy's vicarage where he ended up staying for the night. He wondered if Cassandra would ever tie her tail in knots with worry like Munkustrap had that night. Part of Alonzo doubted it very much. It took a special kind of cat to care about him that much.Â
But Cassandra was kind and regal-- he loved being with her. He could see himself with her more than any other queen. Most of all, even if nothing worked out, he wanted to get to know her. Cassandra was like a locked diary with a missing key. Alonzo was ready to pry her secrets open with his jaws, âDeal it is. And Iâll make myself as quiet as a mouse if I must.â He rolled his eyes, doubting that he could be that quiet when he wasnât hunting. Instead of saying that, though, he started his usual meticulous grooming, using the soapy water to help him get the muck out of his fur.Â
